I am really happy to read about Endeavour OS. And I hope it can be my Daily Driver when it’s ready. I know the 1st of July is soon, but unfortunatly not soon enough for me, since I get a new PC about next week, maybe I’ll try Reborn before I can get Endeavour or something.
But my Laptop will remain on Antergos, until Endeavor is ready.
Your plans really sound great, I am quite excited about your project. I really like the ideas and since it’s from the Antergos Community itself is great.
Since I am a latin junkie kind of, I love the language, I also have a suggestion I thought of the whole day xD
Anteam itself comes from latin and has a number of meanings like:
I go ahead
That word makes me think of this Project and the Ant from Antergos.
Some of the Screenshots of Reborn OS sadly are reminding me a little of Manjaro… Especially tge tool to choose the Kernels. Which is what I don’t like, since I found this Distro everything else but stable.
On Manjaro every single Update crashed the Nvidia Drivers and the Bumblebee Setup. Which never happened on Antergos!
But from @Keegan explanation I think I can see some sense in the Reborn OS Project. More options in the installer are pretty good I think. But right now I am still wondering what to do.
Would it theoretically be possible to upgrade from Antergos to Reborn OS in the future theoretically? Since I think it would be just a few packages and configs needed changing?
I would do anything I can do to help for Antergos. Don’t want to switch the Distro really and this community was the most helpful and friendliest I’ve ever seen.
I am not much of a coder though, just a beginning System Administrator. Am just about to finish up my Apprenticeship this summer. Hopefully xD.
@Bryanpwo I will keep an Eye on this thread the next time.
@Keegan I’ll keep an eye on my loved Antergos for a while in this thread. Maybe in the future you get me for Reborn OS. I would at least like to try it out, if I can’t use Antergos Anymore.
Thank you both for letting me hope.
That is really sad and quite difficult to understand. To know Antergos is going to leave me now… I loved this Distro too much and it was certainly the most user friendly distro with the best community long ago.
I came to Antergos after having a horrible experience at Manjaro and learned it to be the most unstable Distro ever… Antergos was reinstalled just once on my system after original installation and was running without problems all the time. Antergos was just reinstalled when I changed the HDD in my Laptop to SSD and upgraded the Ram to 24GB.
Just read it now Antergos is going to end… Don’t know what to do now really. Maybe switching to Anarchy or Install Arch from Hand when I find the time for like 100 tries… The Community Forums of Pure Arch are a Nightmare…
So I could I move up the Pure Arch Repos to the Top, then put yours behind and Antergos last? Or would there be a complete chaos of Packages then?
I saw you have a much newer Version from Yay as an example in your Repo than Antergos has. Never noticed how outdated that package is.
@manuel Your Repos sound interesting, that would be a great solution if you really add Vivaldi.
Maybe one question if you allow, what would be the best order for the repositorys so that there are no package conflicts with the arch or antergos repos?
Vivaldi Kombi package was working absolutly smooth for me as well. And I really miss that. The Forum here also seems very quiet… Is Antergos about to die? That would be very sad to see.
I think I finally found a solution I can live with for now though. Thank you both for that.
- Uninstalled Vivaldi and Chromium
- Purged every folder with vivaldi or chromium in the name found with
sudo find / -name 'vivaldi' sudo find / -name 'chromium'
- Installed Google-Chrome from Herecura Repo
- Installed Vivaldi-ffmpeg-codecs from Herecura Repo
- Finally installed Vivaldi from Herecura Repo
So far Netflix and Amazon Music are working, didn’t get to test everything yet.
