It seems there is more broken software applications that won’t initialize. Maybe it has something to do with Qt4 vs Qt5, gtk2 vs gtk3, KDE4 apps vs KDE5 plasama apps. . . etc. I wouldn’t know. But so far here’s my view of what works and doesn’t work. A lot of 3rd party apps and some in AUR work fine, some also apps work fine in Wine, but i’ve got a slew of things that don’t work or initialize. Here’s a list if it matters to anyone (i.e. people that are involved in the development and coding aspects of getting everything to work together in harmony.) Maybe I’m missing something here totally. . . Apps that don’t work:
plan work package
scribus (locks up during font caching)
Another issue is some icons don’t show up in Gnome ( i.e. abiword when installed). Also Numix icons once and awhile in the side bar menu revert back to older icon styles then back to numix. . . can’t say why.
I’m running Gnome and have a lot of applications installed some of them have been updated. Question? Some of them will not initialize when the program icon is selected. An example is ‘Hugin’ which recently was updated. When I click the program Icon nothing happens. Same with Amarok. I should maybe go down and list each and every app that fails to open and run. What is causing this issue? Another example is Clementine. I installed Clementine-git from AUR and it works but Clementine in Antergos
repository doesn’t run. Thought’s, idea’s and suggestions would be welcome.
Openimageio and opensubdiv were both removed from file system including any apps that required either one of them. (i.e. luxrender was removed because of the openimaggeio which wouldn’t upgrade properly.) The rest of the updated files were properly installed via process of elimination until I found the 2 offending file culprits.
I’ve got 59 files to update this morning. Can’t get them to install. System locks up and says files exist in file system. I’ve tried
software updater, octopi, pacman all with the same results. . . . refuses to install files after downloading latest versions. . . what gives? How do I fix this? I’ve used Yaourt-gui to clear files cache and to update and backup files. Nothing seems to work. . . any help would be appreciated. . .without totally breaking the system. . .
Can’t say now how to fix anything. . . I had issues re-formatting my drive. . . . and after several failed attempts to re-install the software OS from disk I just gave up and installed Fedora 24 which is running without issues. The installers for this OS like Manjaro are far from perfect especially when using a GPT partitioned 3-gig drive. Nothing but problems and issues. It seems to me the developers need to go back to the drawing board and fix the installation problems from disk ( all 3-installers) i.e. cnchi, cli, and the 3rd one whatever it is called. Then get this to work on GPT drives without problems. . . then address kernel updates without crashing the whole system based on what type of filesystem you’ve partitioned with. . . . .It looked very promising initially after my successful installation but since then I just gave up, for now but will come back again in the near future. . . . xfs also made installation so easy but it seems I’ve had nothing but issues getting the drive re-partitioned. (used gparted, and OS disks. ) Finally gave up and installed Fedora which took far less time without any installation and drive partition issues. Thnx. . .
This is the 2nd time this has happened to me. . . something about modlules for zfs not installed. . . this happened after updating software this morning. ( It appeared to be 4-packages that were related to updating the kernel. ) The only thing I can boot up into is a terminal and prompt. I tried to find answers to this first time this happened on the Internet but didn’t see any real solutions that I can ascertain. I had to re-install this distro after it crashed the first time this happened. I wish there is an easy fix or answer to this problem. . . Gnome works great. I’ve also used Manjaro for some time and may have to go back because this is becoming a labor some problem for me. Any help or quick response to fix this issue would be great. . .
