New to Arch; normally use Fedora or Mint, but removed Mint off my laptop after their server was hacked, so I needed something else that would run on my ACER Laptop with a problematic nVidia GeForce 7000m. Saw latest antergos release on Distrowatch and thought I would give it a try–glad I did, as it has been surprisingly stable and everything works (basically)!!

Good morning!
After the last update a couple of days ago, I now am unable to login as the initial gui login screen does not fully come up. I have tried the Antergos Fallback, and Antergos LTS Fallback, but the initial login screen still comes up the same! I need help as this is my laptop that I use for work, and need to be on it now. Thanks in advance!!
Best regards,

@megaman Am using Mate. I tried using kde-plasma, but it wasn’t working well on my laptop. Actually, looking to figure out how to fully remove it, when I get some time. Mate works well! Thanks, Greg.

Another tool to use for imaging USB drives, that I used for my install of Antergos, is MultiBootUSB. Greg

I can scan, which is something I need to do, so that is a good thing! Why one app recognizes the scanner, and another doesn’t, bothers me from my Ogre geek perspective, and because I just don’t like it when I can’t get something working!!?! I will fiddle around with this, and hopefully post the resolution! Appreciate your positive response and support! As I have said elsewhere, this is one of the best forums I have been on (and I have been on a lot of them over the last 30+ years); you are one of the reasons for that!! Thanks!

Oh since you are suggesting sites, I like http://www.dedoimedo.com as I find their reviews to not be sugar-coated, and usually useful! Just a humble suggestion from a simple Ogre. Thanks, Greg.

I also promote it on FB and twitter when I can! I have used many different distros, and had challenges getting anything to remain stable on this acer laptop! In the past I have shied away from Arch, because of more complexities than I had time or interest to deal with, and had issues trying to get Manjaro working decently, however I have to say that Antergos is one of the best distibutions I have worked with and it is running rock stable on my slightly older, problematic Acer laptop! I have been enjoying about it, and I have to also say that this is one of the best forums I have been in–thanks to all of you!! I would love to eventually get more involved, and volunteer time to help make Antergos increase its awareness and availability to a wider audience, as something this good can’t be kept secret!! Thanks!

Haven’t really found anything any of my family can’t do on linux using gimp, libreoffice, steam, kodi, etc., except getting the shared screen/meetings of MS Lync working–yet!?! Everyone in the house uses Linux, including my 5, 7, and 14 year old. Excellent form, and quickly becoming my favourite distro! Thanks, Greg.
