@mbkmsi may change the used GPU mechanism for the box helps:
as reported change controller to VBoxVGA is working better
ooh my f**ing word, I thought I already changed that…
yes, it did the trick. Muchas gracias mi amigo :D
heyo folks, first post here! :)
so please forgive me if I went the wrong direction with the subforums and if I may overlooked an already existing post…
I successfully installed a minimum Antergos 19.4 KDE as a guest in a virtualbox VM. But I cannot change the resolution from 800x600 - well I can but after half a second it jumps back to 800x600. Nothind worked so far…
I am an IT (and English) teacher at a German vocational business school and I am planning the Linux project for the upcoming semester. Just wanted to get this out of the way before questions occur ;D
my Host System:
Windows 10 64bit 18.09
AMD Ryzen 2700X
nVidia GTX 1060
guest systems have 8CPUs, 8GiB of RAM and max. 128MB of VRAM.
other guest systems which work just fine: Ubuntu, Mint, Manjaro, Solus. Basically every single distro I tried.
Well Antergos works perfectly fine as well, except the resolution issue - which is rather crucial bcs I cannot show my students anything properly via projector with a 800x600 screen as you might assume.
interesting to add: VirtualBox host shows the option “auto resize guest display” as greyed out, no idea why.
what I did so far:
- installed Viurtualbox extensions on host
- updated the installed Antergos
- added guest-additions to Antergos
pacman -S virtualbox-guest-utils
which then installed virtualbox-guest-modules-arch as well (i also tried virtualbox-guest-dkms without success)
4. “modprobing” for lack of a better term, lol
modprobe -a vboxguest vboxsf vboxvideo
checked the config file:
which already had everything in it:
enabled and launched vboxservices:
VBoxClient --clipboard VBoxClient --draganddrop VBoxClient --seamless VBoxClient --display VBoxClient --checkhostversion VBoxClient --vmsvga-x11 systemctl enable vboxservice.service
- rebooted over and over again…
I hope you can make something of it :/
attached some screenshots of showing the running services, a neofetch screen and the greyed-out screen size option in VB.
