Cronos - The greek god of time.
“Kronos” is the original Greek spelling.
“Cronos” and “Chronos” are the anglicised versions.
CronOS - as in cron https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cron
or other variation of name…just throwing it in there.
I’ve seen some really good ones suggested from others as well.
I wonderd about Endeavour being the OS name when I first saw the thread names on what’s going on…
I like your design.
I can see that shuttle logo getting made into some very neat things if it sticks.
One of the cosmetic reasons I liked arch was the logo…reminds me a little bit of a
Star Destroyer…yours makes me think of the Executor Star Destroyer lol
The name Executor “ex·ec·u·tor” sounds cool too haha
Never get discouraged and feel you have to leave linux!
I myself as I’m sure alot here took the big plunge and left microjunk permanently for one reason or another…some for the challenge, some because their fed up.
There is a vast world of linux things out there but it all amounts to what you need at the time.
My time started out with needing a media server and learned about NAS4Free which led me to Arch, then Antergos…now that I think about it…Antergos would make a friggin killer NAS OS…G*^%$# now I’m off thinking of a new pursuit, but that does spark a new install idea if someone made a NAS4Free Arch install? I know it’s BSD, but…an Arch version?
Anyway, back to what I was saying. nice group here and don’t give up…if you need to run a “gulp” microsoft program, linux will do almost anything as well as OR better than microjunk, it’s just about finding your path and where it leads…crap, …just said some Jedi speech lol
…but don’t give up and leave linux, no matter your flavor…however, imo Arch is best with all my searching…
BUT I stand by what I said about NAS! Arch would be great to have a NAS media server/everything NAS4Free does, installer in the mix, just sayin’ as I’m pretty happy right now, everything is installing lol.
du /var/log/journal -h
$ du /var/log/journal -h 8.0K /var/log/journal/remote 41M /var/log/journal/3ba44611d0394c22b20710fbad290693 41M /var/log/journal
Also un-commented the SystemMaxUse= in /etc/systemd/journald.conf
and added 50M
Got root down to 49%
$ df Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/sda2 30106488 14578508 15204396 49% /
Still seems high, but then again, I’m not an expert and
don’t know what all goes in root, but very happy to have it limited now.
Maybe someday there will be a system tweaks GUI you can change things in lol
have paccache in now
$ sudo paccache -d ==> no candidate packages found for pruning
If you think of any other places log buildup or old backup
files may be hiding, let me know.
Thanks for your help in this, other things have seemed to
work correctly since the purge.
Should be good for now… as long as nothing explodes lol
idk, I’ll just wait. as I just found a couple more posts about this and Someone has round-a-bout fixed it here.
I think I’ll wait and try updates tomorrow myself :P
I fixed it I one swift live usb session without having to reinstall kernal
steps, with the edits
$ sudo pacman -S arch-install-scripts --noconfirm $ mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/boot/efi #this was for boot listed above $ mount /dev/sda2 /mnt #this was for root listed above $ arch-chroot /mnt $ sudo pacman -S grub efibootmgr $ grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=antergos_grub_uefi --recheck
That reinstalled and set me back up using linux-lts default and the grub boot menu.
Is antergos_grub_uefi correct?
I’m pretty sure I just changed grub to antergos_grub and left the rest but I did it so fast I can’t remember and I like to be accurate.
As soon as I rebooted that, and it it worked, I uninstalled virtualbox and rebooted again.
kernal modual not loading error is gone and everything running back up to speed.
Now back to the VB post
I’ve got my 212 updates down to 5 lol
Leaving yet to update
I’m just not sure if I should wait as I don’t have much time during the week to fix stuff.
Out of curiosity which video card you have?
Mine is a GeForce GT730, and I ask because it may dare me to hit the apply button lol
Ok, thanks for all the help.
It was quite easy actually, but never doing before makes a person nervous lol.
New install now has /home on separate partition so I don’t have to copy over stuff so much but have just ran into another issue so will post if I can’t solve it.
I had part of this ready to reply but, I’ll explain…
It is not.
I just got done with today’s updates 1-25-18 and was left with
manged to get kdelibs in doing it by itself, “unchecked the others”
then enchant, gtkspell & webkit2gtk went in.
but would not go in until reboot.
…and here is where I’m at about 5 1/2 hrs later…
webkitgtk still building…
It’s like watching paint dry, but no fun without the fumes :P
