Thus, I wanted to use different GUI package managers for different desktops. Pamac for GTK based ones, Octopi for QT based ones, tkpacman for the really light ones. I also use different login managers for different DEs. Deepin’s login manager is used and all setup by default for Deepin, GDM is used for Gnome and Budgie, SDDM is used for KDE, Openbox’s login manager is used for Openbox, etc.Anyway, you get the gist.
I agree with you, but why don’t do it inside Antergos ? Maybe with an “Advanced DE integration” checkbox ?
- Also, I wished to offer the ideal desktop for people fresh after an install. In the Cnchi selection screen for Reborn OS, we offer over 20 different options! You can install various games, photo software, video software, kernels, power management tools, browsers (4 or 5 of them I think), and so on. Through this, it is my dream to offer ultimate customability - in an easy way for any new Linux user.
Why don’t do it inside Antergos ? Maybe with an “Advanced configuration” checkbox ?
- And lastly, just the sheer flexibility that comes with making my project mine own. I can develop it in any way I want to, but ultimately it comes down to the users. I like to run every decision by them, because in my mind, they are the future of any project. Reborn OS is truly developed by the users, for the users .
Doing “your project” ? Thinking about a “one person” Linux Distribution is insane in 2018, it’s a dead end in the short run.
Since the last kernel update:
Bluetooth: hci0: last event is not cmd complete (0x0f)
I´m a new Antergos+Deepin user, in a multiboot with Ubuntu.
What is my problem ? I share my home between my two OS, and I want to use the same fgallaire user.
Here are the default users for each distribution:
Ubuntu: fgallaire(1000) fgallaire(1000)
Antergos: fgallaire(1000) users(995)
In more on antergos we have sambashare(1000)
On antergos when I create a new user test:
useradd: test(1001) test(1001)
Deepin GUI: test(1001) test(1001)
So the CLI and GUI default numberings are the same as the Ubuntu one, so we can say it´s a sane behavior.
So we have an installer behavior which is different, and it´s my problem: it makes my X session fail.
I understand the idea behind the users(995) group, but the sambashare(1000) is completely insane.
So devs, what do you think about that ?
I’m a new and very happy Antergos user as I had been looking for an easy to install flavor of the powerful Arch since a long time.
Since Unity has been killed by Canonical I had to look for a great Desktop too and taking account I don’t like neither KDE or GNOME (Mate, Cinnamon) I have been really happy to discover Deepin Desktop.
And now I discover the “Reborn OS” project, and I’m not very happy. The concept is perfect: an easy to install Arch for every desktop but… it’s so hard to build a community, to have a sufficient size to catch most of bugs on a lot of hardware and help people.
Where was the problem in improving Antergos for alternative desktops ?
