I finally have a working desktop thanks to Antergos and Xfce. One last issue remains, it’s the one I reported before about lightdm: [http://forum.antergos.com/viewtopic.php?t=2438][0]">viewtopic.php?t=2438
On this particular laptop it hangs 2 in 3 times, my ctrl-alt-backspace keys are wearing off
I also tried with slim but it didn’t work, probably because I’m using ecryptfs to encrypt my home directory (with additions to /etc/pam.d/system-auth to unwrap the pw). Any suggestions?

After trying Gnome, Kde, Cinnamon and Mate I settled with XFCE. It’s the only desktop enviroment that’s not forcing me to reboot several times a day. However, its use of xrender produces stuttering / tearing when playing youtube videos (my laptop uses Intel graphics).
I’ve heard this issue can be solved by using another compositor, e.g. compton or cairo-compmgr. I’ve found instructions for Ubuntu but was wondering if any of you has actually tried it on Arch? Any help would be very appreciated.

I’m trying to upgrade and got the following errors:

I tried to follow the solution posted at [http://forum.antergos.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2398][0]">viewtopic.php?f=28&t=2398 but it won’t work:

(answering “y” results in the same errors)

In the last few days I installed Antergos with a different desktop (Kde, Gnome, Cinnamon) each time to find out which one better suits my needs.
Antergos seems to always install its lightdm + webkit based custom theme (which, by the way, I really love). However there seems to be a problem: sometimes when lightdm starts, all I can see is a black screen (no mouse pointer either) and I have to switch to another tty and “pkill lightdm” to make it appear.
Logs in /var/log/lightdm don’t seem to show anything unusual. Has anyone experienced the same issue?

It seems every time I try to install Antergos on a machine, cnchi decides to make my life extremely complicated… it’s a shame, as in the past it was just the opposite and every installation used to be smooth and trouble free.
Today, after booting from the latest ISO, installing git and running cnchi-dev, I went through the usual installation options and then cnchi failed with the message “Can’t install necessary packages. Cnchi can’t continue”.
The log looked like this:

I tried again and again, changing mirrors and updating each time (network is up and working fine), but it simply refuses to work.
I really hope in the future you’ll release a working ISO without the need to go through the various steps to make cnchi-dev cooperate…

A couple of days ago I installed Antergos + KDE and found the pulseaudio package was missing. I thought maybe mirrors were being sync’ed at the time, so I tried to reinstall again today but had LOTS of problems with the installer:
1st time with default cnchi: failed just after asking my system and user name and password (couldn’t load packages); probably due to the mirror it was using
2nd time with cnchi-dev: failed (trying to use git, which wasn’t installed)
3rd time with cnchi-dev, after installing git manually: failed (couldn’t install necessary packages)
4th time with default cnchi, after removing the first couple of mirrors from mirrorlist:
it installed everything, then at 100% it failed (“couldn’t install necessary packages, cnchi can’t continue”); cnchi.log reports that it couldn’t find intel-dri, lib32-intel-dri, libreoffice packages, and finally there was a “transaction failed” in pac.py and “conflicting files” on numix-icon-theme-square5th time I followed the instructions at [http://forum.antergos.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2268&start=10][0]">viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2268&start=10 and did the following:
cd /usr/share
sudo mv cnchi cnchi.old
sudo git clone [http://github.com/antergos/cnchi.git][0]">[http://github.com/antergos/cnchi.git][1] cnchi
sudo -E cnchi -dv -p /usr/share/cnchi/data/packages.xml
and the result is… same as above.I can’t believe the amount of time I wasted, and still no solution…

What is Antergos’ default desktop theme? I changed to a different theme and would like to restore it, but none of the ones listed in KDE system settings seem to be the right one.

I just installed Antergos and KDE from the latest ISO on a Toshiba Portege Z30A. Unfortunately audio doesn’t seem to work, but it worked fine in the Gnome-based live installer.
The audio icon in the tray area has a red circle around it and the tooltip says “Volume at 0% - HDA Intel HDMI - IEC958”. I tried changing the volume level but to no avail. In “Audio Setup” I can see “hda intel pch alc283 analog” as default along with 4 o 5 “cards” flagged as intel HDMI (selecting any of them and clicking the Test button reports failure).
I noticed pulseaudio is not installed but I guess it’s ok… A few things other I’ve tried:
speaker-test reports “unable to open slave. playback open error -2, no such file or directory” (however this also happens in the live installer, where audio works.)
aplay -l shows:
card 0: hdmi 0
card 0: hdmi 1
card 0: hdmi 2
card 1: pcm(alc283 analog) hdmi 2so I created /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf and tried to force alsa with: options snd_hda_intel index=1
but it didn’t work.I’m not quite sure where to look for possible hints as to my problem, so I’d appreciate any assistance.

I just tried installing Antergos on a new Toshiba Z30A, but Cnchi wouldn’t start.
I also tried running it from the terminal, it says something like “using gtk2…” and exits.
Finally, I started the console installer from tty2 (or tty1, can’t remember), I chose “no” to GPT and when I started gparted I saw 4 primary partitions (3 are for recovery, I guess). Maybe this is why Cnchi won’t start? Should I enable GPT instead? -

I really love the Antergos lightdm theme, my only problem is the white background that appears just before the lightdm login… at night it would blind me with its brightness
