Hi, I’m trying to setup dnscrpyt-proxy with unbound, but unbound fails to start, here are my various outputs and configs
unbound -d -v output:
/usr/bin/unbound -d -v unbound[12146:0] notice: Start of unbound 1.5.3. unbound[12146:0] warning: setrlimit: Operation not permitted unbound[12146:0] warning: cannot increase max open fds from 1024 to 4140 unbound[12146:0] warning: continuing with less udp ports: 984 unbound[12146:0] warning: increase ulimit or decrease threads, ports in config to remove this warning unbound[12146:0] error: can't bind socket: Permission denied for 127.0.0.1 unbound[12146:0] fatal error: could not open ports
I bet its something with the localhost but I’m to noob to figure it out
my systemctl status -l unbound.service output:
unbound.service - Unbound DNS Resolver Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/unbound.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled) Active: failed (Result: start-limit) since mar 2015-04-28 11:28:56 CEST; 9h ago Process: 397 ExecStart=/usr/bin/unbound -d (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Process: 395 ExecStartPre=/bin/cp -f /etc/trusted-key.key /etc/unbound/ (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS) Main PID: 397 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: Unit unbound.service entered failed state. apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: unbound.service failed. apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: unbound.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart. apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: start request repeated too quickly for unbound.service apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: Failed to start Unbound DNS Resolver. apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: Unit unbound.service entered failed state. apr 28 11:28:56 firebox systemd: unbound.service failed.

my dnscrypt-proxy config file:
DNSCRYPT_LOCALIP=127.0.0.1 DNSCRYPT_LOCALPORT=53 DNSCRYPT_USER=nobody DNSCRYPT_PROVIDER_NAME=2.dnscrypt-cert.opendns.com DNSCRYPT_PROVIDER_KEY=B735:1140:206F:225D:3E2B:D822:D7FD:691E:A1C3:3CC8:D666:8D0C:BE04:BFAB:CA43:FB79 DNSCRYPT_RESOLVERIP=188.8.131.52 DNSCRYPT_RESOLVERPORT=443
and my resolv.conf:
nameserver 127.0.0.1 options edns0
i was under the impression that DNSCRYPT_LOCALPORT=53 and forward-addr: [email protected] should be different than 53, i tried 40 but dnscrypt does not resolve even with unbound not being able to start
thanks to all
thanks for your reply, so I tried to boot again and I managed to get past the login (no messed up screen this time… …don’t know why) rendering was very sluggish, I got my journalctl output at that stage, but I don’t know what to look for:
so then i finally installed my driver, rebooted, i did nvidia-xconfig and complained about:
"Package xorg-server was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xorg-server.pc’
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package ‘xorg-server’ found
New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.conf "
so i installed xorg-server-devel and nvidia-xconfig again, things are better but still not ok still a bit sluggish when I move windows around but especially video playback is slow and the screen goes green occasionally, tried with and without VDPAU, still slow, here is my latest journalctl output, I know its a long list, if any one could tell me what to look for or has an idea of whats going on :
i really don’t want to go back to kde
p.s. how do you embed long text in the post?
Hi, I just did a fresh gnome install, but as soon as I get to the login I get a garbled screen beyond recognition , i think something wrong with the default video drivers. So I would like to try and install my nvidia-340xx drivers for my 8800gt by chrooting in it but, problem is that I did an install with encryption and I don’t know the default device-mapper name to unlock with cryptsetup before chrooting.
Does any body know the default device-mapper name?
Strange thing is that I don’t have this problem with a fresh kde install

thanks for your reply, here are my hooks :
HOOKS=“base udev autodetect modconf block keyboard keymap encrypt lvm2 resume filesystems fsck”
looks ok …i think?
Here is a strange thing, I attached a ps/2 keyboard that I had around as well as my usual usb wifi keyboard, so when luks asks me the password I can enter it with the ps2 but not with the usb wifi one, but funny thing is when I login I have no problem with the usb-wifi keyboard and everything goes back to normal …
any thoughts on this behavior?
