• Logitech C920 no video capture device, however c920 mic works.

So lsusb shows that my camera is detected correctly, however skype and any other video capture program can’t detect the camera except for the audio for it. I booted under windows to make sure the camera was working, and it was so it seems something has gone afoul with my system.

Has anyone got some commands I can try running to help diagnose this issue, I have not debt with camera related problems before since it has always worked fine in the past (I switched from Manjaro to Antergos recently, hence the issue).

  • Yeah been down this path, trust me I didn’t blind post this!

Here is that output. > camera is plugged in at this point

  • @theriddick said in Logitech C920 no video capture device, however c920 mic works.:

    xawtv

looks like xawtv is not workling properly also at the moment 😉

And journal do not show that device is getting a driver …

  • This post is deleted!
  • I have no idea how to assign a driver to the camera. It was working fine under Manjaro.

I’m aware that I must load the correct kernel module but just not sure howto or what that might be for this camera. Trying to research more about it now. Really shouldn’t need to do this!

  • Ok that was allot easier then I thought.

just sudo edit the /etc/modules-load.d/webcam.conf file and put in your module name. For my camera it was “uvcvideo”.

    Fixed.

  • That’s interesting, as I remember webcams was always loading the drivers automatically…
But may there was a change…
