• Cnchi to allow to enter the "grub>" prompt?

    @manuel
    I just mounted an iso and saw grub files, weird… Maybe only the package is installed, let me check here a little bit and i’ll get back to you.

    EDIT:
    ok, you’re right, yesterday i booted the image.
    If you boot the iso (Antergos) you’ll see /boot/grub, but that means the file only appear after the image is mounted.
    I also do’t know if there is some file missing.

  • Alright, I give up… Must search something else. Maybe I’ll find a distro that has grub in the ISO.

    Thanks anyways for your time and ideas! :)

    Ok, i understand your frustration. I’m passing this last 3 days tying to make a Portergos iso with persistence, basically is not worth the time, but i’m stubborn so i’l keep trying :)

    There is a distro with a very unusual bootloader, i use it to boot from pendrive in my old computer that doesn’t support it. Maybe it has something you’re looking for or can give you ideas.

    Only bootloader:
    https://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager/download.html

    Entire distro (debian based)

  • but the idea is a very good one…, and if i think about what goes wrong in most cases is that system will start but graphics do not, so an menu entry for non graphical boot is may a good idea too…

    Not on the ISO but on installed system, with a welcome message, like the one @fernandomaroto is using on portergos, where you get hints on howto update system, rebuild grub.cfg and kernel images e.t.c

    Hi!

    I was reading about syslinux and maybe if found something. In the link bellow search for “examples”, there is a way to boot a different disk/partition, so it probably jumps grub and allow the user to boot the system.

    Thanks for the link!
    I have seen this already, but in case I missed something I will take another more thorough look. 🔍
