• Numix Frost Dark needs a seperate theme now. We've known since August!

    Numix frost the default theme for GNOME on Antergos is gone from new installations. If you already had it set it remains set to the dark version, but, GNOME announced the elimination of global dark theme back in August. They said for themers to update their themes to have a seperate dark them rather than depending on the button. SO with this being the default theme, why have Antergos not requested Numix to update Numix Frost Dark to be sepperate as advised by GNOME? Sloppy. I have no wish to change my themes. both my desktop and laptop run antergos, but, in addtion my laptop is running a virtual machine with a fresh antergos install to serve as a base for an installation of Blackarch. The white is killing my eyes and I just want my dark theme back. I do not like arc, adwaita, or, even Numix. I like Numix Frost and with it being your default theme, you would think it would be a bigger priority. One of the things I love about Antergos is the attention to detail, and, this just bugs me. with my desktop and main laptop install still have it activated, does anyone know of a terminal work around to get it back on my virtual machine?

    michael,

    Understood that you may be frustrated, but Gnome’s theme decisions wouldn’t necessarily involve downstream Antergos, the same as for changes at Antergos relative to downstream Numix.

    It’s my understanding that Antergos pulls vanilla DE’s directly from Arch. I’m not certain that Antergos makes any theme changes on the iso, or during install. But, I could be mistaken.

    If you wish a change to the theme set, could you not request it from Arch/Antergos?

    Even though you seem strong-minded in your theme choice, have you ever tried the Adapta GTK3 Color Pack from Gnome-Look? There’s alot of nice, clean dark theme variations.

    Thanks for the information, and correction. Very nice of you to file a bug report on michael’s behalf, as well as post your hack.

  • I echo the thanks for the post of the hack and bug report. Both help I will try it out soon.

  • @joekamprad Well I tried and get the error mv can not stat /usr/share/themes/Numix-Frost/gtk-dark.css no such file exists. Thanks for the try. I’ll go searching and see it it is called something else.

  • @joekamprad the propper code should be as follows you forgot the folder gtk-3.20.

    //sudo mv /usr/share/themes/Numix-Frost/gtk-3.20/gtk-dark.css /usr/share/themes/Numix-Frost/gtk-3.20/gtk.css

    Then close whatever applications you have open out and open them again and it will reload the theme.

  • @michaelnothing 🤦🏼♂ yes right i do not recheck this… as i do it inside tzhe directory and write the command by hand…

  • Happens to the best of us. I used to run Arch, and, one of the deciding factors to switching back to Antergos was aside from the convienience, this theme along with the square icons, so thanks again. This would work for any theme that has not been updated, so that helps others as well.
