• HOW TO: Fix Firefox searchbar glitches with Themes such as Arc-Dark

    Hey people time for my first tutorial for the antergos forums. I spent a fair amount of time yesterday trying to fix some nasty glitches with the arc-dark theme on the KDE version of antergos. Thought I would share my fix as there isn’t a single comprehensive answer out there.

    First some pics of the nasties. (look at search boxes)

    Gross right? Let’s get to the fix.
    Go to your Firefox URL bar and type:

    about:profiles

    Now open up your root directory (make sure it is root not local)

    For some reason mine opens up in VSCode ¯\(•_•)/¯
    add a folder called “chrome” (no quotes of course)
    and a file called userContent.css
    in userContent.css copy and paste this little piece of magic (I don’t know css so it works like magic for me)

    input:not(.urlbar-input):not(.textbox-input):not(.form-control):not([type='checkbox']):not([type='radio']) {
        -moz-appearance: none !important;
        background-color: white;
        background-color: inherit;
        color: black;
        color: inherit;
    }

    #downloads-indicator-counter {
        color: white;
        color: inherit;
    }

    textarea {
        -moz-appearance: none !important;
        background-color: white;
        background-color: inherit;
        color: black;
        color: inherit;
    }

    select {
        -moz-appearance: none !important;
        background-color: white;
        background-color: inherit;
        color: black;
        color: inherit;
    }

    now restart Firefox and you are done.

    Should look like this:

    Result like this:

    No more nasties 🙂

  • Thanks that worked like a charm! 🙂

  • good work dude!

    Less to say but arc is a gtk theme, and so making it work for kde comes with the need of hacking…

    [updates once a week] = [90% less problems]
