    At Forum it is reported by multiple users that install fails with metalink error!

    https://forum.antergos.com/topic/9745/error-1083052-antergos-installation
    https://forum.antergos.com/topic/9705/cnchi-can-t-install-necessary-packages-error-1074120
    https://forum.antergos.com/topic/9721/can-t-install-error-1076268

    So it looks like we run into an installer (cnchi) error, and it is not possible to install any Antergos DE at the moment.

    As soon as @developers fixed this, it will be possible to install again with the latest Antergos ISO (18.4), as the problem is NOT the ISO and cnchi issues can be solved outside the ISO!

    So keep calm and wait till we offer the solving here!

  • Anyone on try to install want to provide thge failed cnchi logs can do easy with this commands out of the Live Session:

    cat /tmp/cnchi.log  > log.txt && cat /tmp/cnchi-alpm.log >> log.txt && cat /tmp/pacman-boot.log >> log.txt && cat log.txt | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

    command will create a pastebin with all related logs and give the URL to it you can post here!

  • Hello there!

    I’ve been trying to install Antergos since yesterday night. Nope, Cnchi crashes with ‘Cannot create download package list (metalinks).’ error after choosing installation partition.

    Here’s my paste. Seems like a Python crash. Cnchi is written in Python after all…

    Much appreciated.

  • This could be a python new release problem. It was updated two weeks ago, and if I’m not mistaken, soon after that people have started to report similar problems.
    I may be wrong though, but probably worth a check.

    Seems to me that the problem is that the first “None” should be representing the Base DE (aka: no Desktop Environment at all). Replacing “None” with something like “[‘none’, []]” should resolve the issue… But I’m completely new to Arch and Pacman so I have no idea about the architecture.

  • I’ve tried to install Antergos today for the first time and I got the same error as threadstarter. Looking forward to a solution.
    Regards, Raven.

  • that happens to me too log cnchi.log

  • Yes! For a quick and easy fix, run

    sudo nano /usr/share/cnchi/src/download/metalink.py

    Find this line:

        one_repo_groups = [antdb.read_grp(one_repo_group)
                           for one_repo_group in one_repo_groups]

    And add this line right below it, keeping indentation in mind:

        one_repo_groups[0] = ['None', []]

    It should look something like this:

    Workaround

    IMPORTANT: Do the same thing in pacman/pac.py, else you will have another crash at the end of your installation!

    sudo nano /usr/share/cnchi/src/pacman/pac.py

    Make sure you save, then restart Cnchi and install.

    Please note that this is just a workaround for the problem. Please do not try to install the Base system without a DE with this workaround.

    Hopefully Developers can come up with a permanent solution soon.

    Thanks for trying to work around this!

  • I’m surprised this issue has not hit the “latest news” section yet, seems like quite the major breakage that might affect a lot of new users visiting the website to download the iso.

  • @manuel Thanks for letting me know.

    I managed to reproduce by rebooting and redoing my steps.

    It seems like Cnchi runs in the background when the live environment starts. Therefore, any changes to the source will not be effective even if you restart Cnchi.

    A complete reboot of Cnchi is required by killing all Cnchi processes: sudo ps -aux | grep cnchi

    then proceeding to kill the PIDs: sudo kill -9 1234

    I’m not sure if sudo pkill cnchi is adequate.

    After applying the workaround and killing the Cnchi processes, you will be able to install properly.

    Cheers!

  • @denialmc nice work! I will try to reproduce

  • @DenialMC Good job men, Thanks
