• Wifi not working

    when I try to connect to wifi it says “no wifi adapter found make sure you have a wifi adapter plugged in and turned on”

  • That means you need to plug it in then first ;)

    plz. be more precise and offer some more details!

    https://antergos.com/wiki/miscellaneous/how-do-i-include-system-logs-when-asking-for-help/

    or do that inside terminal and post the URL it gives out at the very end:

    wget http://bit.ly/2GCG9k2 && sh 2GCG9k2

  • I have a wifi adapter built into my computer and it connected to windows 10 just fine
    heres what happened when i typed
    wget http://bit.ly/2GCG9k2 && sh 2GCG9k2

  • I can not fully identify your wireless device as it shows only:

    03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device d723

    looks like a combi chip wifi+bluetooth, and bluetooth is working but not detected the wifi part…

    you can try one of this drivers:

    plz. try one after the second and remove the first tried one before install the second!

    yaourt -S rtl8723de-dkms

    reboot.
    if it does not show your wifi:

    sudo pacman -R rtl8723de-dkms

    then

    yaourt -S rtlwifi_new-dkms

    reboot i wish you are lucky then :)

  • when i do the first command it does this yaourt -S rt18723de-dkms
    [sudo] password for nilnail: then doesn’t allow me to type in a password and when i hit enter it always says password incorrect and gives me 3 tries

  • @nilnail0-01 said in Wifi not working:

    yaourt -S rt18723de-dkms

    passwort input is invisable… just type your password and hit enter

  • Sudo says: error: target not found: rt18723de-dkms
    so what do i do now?

  • then try the other one…

    yaourt -S rtlwifi_new-dkms

    rtl8723de-dkms is not aviable anymore, i do not see this before sorry!

  • yaourt is used here to build a package not inside the main repository.
    On Archlinux we use PKGBUILD files for this this files will be downloaded and then yaourt will build the package it will install after it has done this.

    As you choose to edit the PKGBUILD file (by pressing y to this question yaourt is open the PKGBUILD with a terminal based editor called nano.

    you need to say n (no) to the question:
    ==> Edit PKGBUILD ? [Y/n] ("A" to abort) n
    and also:
    ==> Edit rtlwifi_new-dkms.install ? [Y/n] ("A" to abort) n

    and the y to build the package: ==> Continue building rtlwifi_new-dkms ? [Y/n]

    then yaourt will forward to build and install the package!

  • well this is what happened ==> n

    so what do i answer with yes or no?

  • Yes as it is a dkms package it needs dkms installed.

    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dynamic_Kernel_Module_Support

    dkms will build the needed kernel modules and install them after initial install and on each kernel update then.
