• Change background of lightdm

    Hi everyone!
    Can you help me to change the background of lightdm in Antergos gnome?
    Thanks for help and sorry for my english… 🤓

  • default Antergos lightdm is shipped with webkit2 greeter what offers only an option to do so inside the loginscreen on top right corner, you can choose one, or random Antergos Backgrounds.

    If you want to have your own Background you will need to put it inside the right directory:

    sudo cp /path/to/your/wallpaper.png /usr/share/antergos/wallpapers/

  • @joekamprad Thanks!!! It run ☺

    I would not like to abuse but in order to harmonize my system, would you know how to change the background of Grub?
    Thank you for your help

  • grub theming is done with a grub theme they are stored under /boot/grub/themes/

    and adding a theme to grub is done inside /etc/default/grub
    inside there is this part:

    # Uncomment one of them for the gfx desired, a image background or a gfxtheme
    #GRUB_BACKGROUND="/path/to/wallpaper"
    GRUB_THEME="/boot/grub/themes/Antergos-Default/theme.txt"

    You can install another grub theme or copy an background (png) with exact size grub is using; can be specified in the same file:

    # The resolution used on graphical terminal
    # note that you can use only modes which your graphic card supports via VBE
    # you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo'
    GRUB_GFXMODE=1920x1080

    1920x1080 needs to fit what grub can handle… e.g. native resolution of your display.

    then copy this picture under a directory grub will be able to read (/boot/grub/themes/)

    and change the part to something like this:

    # Uncomment one of them for the gfx desired, a image background or a gfxtheme
    GRUB_BACKGROUND="/boot/grub/themes/wallpaper.png"
    #GRUB_THEME="/boot/grub/themes/Antergos-Default/theme.txt"

    then rebuild grub.cfg:

    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg

  • @joekamprad Thank you very much!

  • you are welcome!
