• How can I turn the wifi power management off?

    Hello there,

    I have been having wifi connection drops randomly for a quite a bit time. I have been asking for help from the community, and some very nice people have been trying to help me with my issue, but so far no luck. The problem still exist. I have been reading articles, and trying to find some solutions for the issue. On Arch forums, someone has mentioned about power saving mode and its adverse affects on the wifi connection drops. I have been trying to disable power management option on my laptop, but haven’t been able to do it so far. It still shows Power Management: On, when I enter “iwconfig” command on the Terminal. Thank you so much in advance for your help attempts.

  • @joekamprad Thank you so much for your response! I have entered it, and at first, it said no such device, then I entered “iwconfig” and spotted the name of the wifi connection, and instead of wlan0, I entered its name, and applied the command again you provided, then used “iwconfig” again, and now it says “Power Management: off”. I appreciated it!

  • So then you are lucky to have this supported by your device 😉

    I can take a look into it later that day, to see how to make this permanent…

  • Joe, here’s what I did and it is working for me:
    I created a folder named /bin/power.d and put a file named wireless_power_management_off. In that file I put:
    #!/bin/bash
    /sbin/iw dev wlo1 set power_save off
