• Cinnamon crashes after disconnecting from OpenVPN

I use the networkmanager-openvpn plugin. Everything works fine until I disconnect from OpenVPN. When I do so the desktop environment crashes. Any idea?

    Sorry for my bad english

  • Check your journal or other log files to see if it is something there and post it please

  • When Cinnamon crashes I get following from lxdm.log:

The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
\> Warning: Compat map for group 2 redefined
    \> Using new definition
\> Warning: Compat map for group 3 redefined
    \> Using new definition
\> Warning: Compat map for group 4 redefined
    \> Using new definition
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server

Thats all I got when it crashed. The journal also doesn’t give anything useful.

  • mmmm nop, that errors aren’t the cause.

Are them errors from lxdm.log or xorg-0.log? maybe in xorg log you find something

  • In the Xorg.0.log I can’t find anything interesting. There are just some NVIDIA things.

  • Try running

    sudo journalctl -bm

after the crash occurs. That will give you everything from all journals.

Ah. There I could find something:

    Sorry for my bad english

  • A quick google search comes up with quite a few results for this same issue. I am not sure if it has even been fixed. Here is what I googled (I picked out important info that should provide best search results).
