I didn’t really see a How To section so…
This is a how to for some openGL or Quake based game fixes you may be missing after you’ve reinstalled your OS and your stuff is broke.
After you’ve copied your previously working wine game /home/user/.wine directory or other, you may be missing some stuff.
This is just some notes to help shortcut the junk your missing and getting errors like
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
This was done after a fresh reinstall of KDE Plasma Desktop, and putting back in
.wine directory, you may need
Sudo pacman -S wine wine-mono wine_gecko winetricks
run this to set it back to 32x
check for glxinfo
glxinfo | grep OpenGL
mesa-demos for glxinfo, also
For some reason I was missing this idky, goes in system32 and register the dll
wine reg register cmd
wine regsvr32 3dfxVGL.dll
At this point your game should actually load, but your sound is screwed.
Run the game like this depending on what you want to launch:
** Medal of Honor - Allied Assault
"WINEDEBUG=-all __GL_ExtensionStringVersion=17700 wine MOHAA"
** Medal of Honor - SpearHead
"WINEDEBUG=-all __GL_ExtensionStringVersion=17700 wine moh_spearhead"
** Medal of Honor - BreakThrough
"WINEDEBUG=-all __GL_ExtensionStringVersion=17700 wine moh_breakthrough.exe"
sudo pacman -S lib32-alsa-plugins lib32-libpulse lib32-openal
Your sound should now work.
In the very first time I installed MOHsh, I had to do sound settings in the desktop sound settings itself but it wasn’t needed this time.
When I first had the game before reinstall I had this in, but took it out at some point as it caused a problem, I needed it again.
check if mouse goofy
adding the line ‘seta in_mouse “-1”’ at the end of the file “mohaa/main/configs/unnamedsoldier.cfg”
