• Screen freezes when i tap "/'"

I’m using Antergos GNOME (installed yesterday) with Portuguese Brazil keyboard layout and the screen freezes everytime i tap /, the sound works but the other things just freeze. Please, help me.

  • Anyone? I’m almost changing the OS because of this

  • keyboard binding?

    sudo pacman -S xbindkeys
    xbindkeys --defaults > ~/.xbindkeysrc
    xbindkeys -k

then press / to get what the keycode gives you

  • @joekamprad
Press combination of keys or/and click under the window.
You can use one of the two lines after “NoCommand”
in $HOME/.xbindkeysrc to bind a key.
    “(Scheme function)”
    m:0x10 + c:97
    Mod2 + slash

  • @josec said in Screen freezes when i tap "/'":

    Mod2 + slash

looks wrong to me… as Mod2 usually is bind to numlock …

  • @josec

    Do you have any journal log, it’s very unclear with no log, this also could be a corrupted font cache or locale misconfiguration;

    to recreate locale config:
    sudo locale-gen pt_BR.UTF-8
(this command generate a new locale config)

    and for font cache:
    sudo fc-cache -rv
(this command forces font cache to be cleared and rebuilded)

if any error in anyone command post back here 😁

  • lspci > log.txt && lsusb >> log.txt && journalctl -b -0 >> log.txt && cat log.txt | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

    systemsumup+logs autopastebin command

  • samba.service: Main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE

copy the file examples/smb.conf from https://git.samba.org to smb.conf (this fix also sharing printer troubleshooting)…

    Just take this content.
    https://git.samba.org/samba.git/?p=samba.git;a=blob_plain;f=examples/smb.conf.default;hb=HEAD

and place the file in /etc/samba/smb.conf

may some wrong settings in Bios/firmware ?

And try unplugging xbox controller, to see if this solve the issue…

  • @joekamprad I’ve loaded default BIOS configuration and dont received more messages like these in log.
Unplugged my xbox controller, but the main issue continues.
Btw, xbox controller didn’t works on Antergos, even with xboxdvr and xf86

  • Another question, i have installed here both kernel linux: LTS version and current version. Is this normal?

  • Yes you can choose LTS on bootup as fallback

My pc is similar to yours @josec, sp5100_tco is some kind of system “watchdog” component in motherboard if I recall correctly conflicts with some “new” amd driver modules addresses.
6 years ago I’d been looking for patch or fixes for this module but seems that it’s a very old piece of hardware that some manufacturers decided to put in the motherboards and nobody cares about it, I never found any patch or fix for it, anyway, as doesn’t load you can blacklist without any harm.

    sudo echo blacklist sp5100_tco > /etc/modprobe.d/sp5100_tco.conf

Probably @joekamprad is right, imho flashing to a newest bios for your mobo can fix; your log says that your mobo is an asus M5A78L-M-USB3 with BIOS 2101 12/02/2014, in the asus site the latest (and last) is dated 2015.

Also this doesn’t looks normal too:
    systemd-coredump[648]: Process 559 (lightdm-webkit2) of user 620 dumped core.

  • @joekamprad About the main issue, nothing to do? When i tap / in numpad works normally.

  • you can start investigate on your keyboard layout, in Regional / Lang Settings you can watch the keyboard layout as a picture and compare with yours…
