• I don't get any sound

    Hi,
After my last update on Mint resulted in a complete UI failure (repeated crashes), i deceided to finally make the already long planned switch to Antergos. So far i’m quite happy with this distribution and would like to keep it as my standard, unfortunately, i don’t get any sound and have not figured out, what to do in order to solve this problem (quite frankly i’m not exactly a wizard in all things computer, that require some deeper knowledge).
Consulting previous threads/searchengines to this topic have not yet provided me with any useful information.

    Here are my systeminfos:

Pulseaudio (configuration) lists all devices as unplugged and unavailable, but since sound worked on Mint, i figure the problem has to be software, not hardwaresided.

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • kannst du … äh… can you try unmuting inside alsamixer from terminal:
alsamixer and the press [F6] to choose one of your soundcards
(the one where you plugged speakers/headphones)
left right arrows to xhoose channel, pressing M to mute/unmute channel …

  • That worked.

I remember, spending quite some time with alsamixer to no avail. My front port is still not working (even though all options are unmuted) but at least the port in the back seems to work properly now and i can live with that.

So thank you and sorry for bothering you with something as trivial (or at least something with such a trivial solution) as that.

  • Luckily this first try works for your needs.
