• automate login in OB, how? (SOLVED)

installed the latest OB in one of my PC. After each boot I have to enter password but I am only one using and would like to automate without having to enter a password.

    How can I do this?

old thread here does not seem to work: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=102366

  • in the first place you can enable it already on installation as an option where you set the password, and also later on already installed system.

If you are using the standard lightdm from installation:

    edit lightdm.conf:

    sudo nano /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf

    and change the line :

    #autologin-user=
remove the # and add your username

    autologin-user=gychang

or the one you are setup on the installation…

    Save the file with [Ctrl+X]

    and reboot direct to desktop…

may you will need to unlock your keyring after the autologin, if a programm needs it…

  • I got impatient and reinstalled… Your answer makes perfect sense and should have known.

    thanks for your input.

  • i start to questioning the simplicity of our webgreeter (lightdm) 😉
As it is possible to change usersettings for login with a GUI under lightdm-gtk-greeter p.e.
