• Brother DCP 9017 CDW Network Printer

I’m pretty new to Antergos so please don’t be to rude ;)

I am using a Brother DCP-9017-CDW printer, and tried to install it. But once i finished, i keep getting the following error: “Unable to locate »BRWA86BAD84FC12.local«”.
I downloaded the brother-dcp9017cdw drivers from AUR and configured the Printer through the System Settings. Removed it again, and configured it through CUPS Webinterface, removed it again and configured a queue within the console. But i always keep getting the same Error.

    Hopefully someone help me

  • [[email protected] ~]$ pacman -Qs brother
    local/brother-dcp9017cdw 1.1.3-0
LPR and CUPS driver for the Brother DCP-9017CDW
    local/brscan-skey 0.2.4_1-12
        Brother scan-key-tool
    local/brscan4 0.4.4_4-2
SANE drivers from Brother for brscan4 compatible models
  • % ippfind
    % ping -c1 NPIEA538B.local
    PING NPIEA538B.local ( 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from ( icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=0.144 ms

For this to work you need .local hostname resolution with mdns. The printer packages do not do this for you. You can also modify the printer and change the .local address to the IP address.

ipp here is only an example that shows how .local should work. I prefer AppSocket and IP. Some Brother printers install with lpd.
