• Less memory usage Gnome?

I want to know what I can do to make gnome use less memory. After a new install it uses around 1100 Mb.

You need to provide more info about the packages that you are using.

Post your ps_mem here, if you don’t have it, open a Terminal and install it with sudo pacman -S ps_mem, type your password, type sudo ps_mem put your password, select the list and copy with Ctrl+Shift+C and paste here Ctrl+V.

It’s a list of packages and how much RAM each one is using.

  • @ssspacez said in Less memory usage Gnome?:

    sudo ps_mem

    sudo ps_mem | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

autopastebin and give url to post here

  • GNOME probably uses something like 500-700 MiB RAM in most cases, after boot. If you want something lighter I recommend Antergos Xfce, it usually uses 350-400 MiB if you don’t add anything else, if you want something even lighter, Antergos Openbox uses 250-300 MiB the last time I checked, but I think you can use even less with it, but is not recommended for begginers.

  • All this confusion about RAM usage… what for is your RAM? to be used or not?

    Only total: 5.70G RAM
On usual system usage i get: active used RAM: 2.93G

1,9G are used by Browser and email-client ;) (autostarted)

So keep in mind that real free RAM is not usefull
