• Avoiding cnchi download errors

I have made several failed attempts at antergos. One successful installation out of around 15 to 18 attempts. All the failures are cnchi downloads all the packages and at lost moment says installation failed.

How to avoid this failure. Is there any standard procedure to fallow?

The following two things come to my mind as potential reasons:

    • bad mirrors (you can/should modify mirrors when installing)
    • bad internet connection (3G/4G?), may depend on the operator…
  • I have good internet connection. I have tried updating mirrors before installing and refletors as suggested im the forums. Still facing issues.

    Hi!
    Maybe you could install Portergos
    https://github.com/Portergos/portergos-iso/releases/download/iso_02_12_2017/portergos-2017.12.02-x86_64.iso

    md5sum

I’m not trying to steal Antergos users, the thing is that my iso contains Antergos repositories, so you can install everything you’d want from it, and even remove all Portergos configs and then finally have an Antergos system running.,

    Two questions

    1. How to get pure antergos from portergos

2.can i install kde from portergos iso

The Antergos repo is there so you can install everything Antergos and Arch offer to you.

Pure Antergos is complicated since i’m not sure exactly whre you can find their confg files.

Considering you know, you just need to download them to your home folder whith their respective paths or use dconf command. This (not so pure Antergos) is more related with Antergos appearance, like themes, icons etc, which you can install and set them manually too.

can i install kde from portergos iso

Sure, to install just type sudo pacman -S plasma

**The new KDE versions are called plasma

    Ok friend no problem.

Unfortunately there is no alternative method than try to install again, avoid adding packages when cnchi ask you to, install only the vanilla options.

I just remembered that some posts were reporting problems updating kde software, so maybe you can try to install another DE. You could for example install openbox (fast to install) and later on install plasma.

I’m right now installing using the latest minimal install ISO. With Xfce (that has always problem free for me) there are no errors with cnchi or anything else. Everything just works.
I selected all and only the defaults that the cnchi installer offered. And just rebooted successfully to the new install. 🙂
So maybe Xfce is worth a try?

One thing still comes to my mind: how did you create the installer?

    I agree!

how did you create the installer?

Are you talking to me or @Kowshik ?
In my case Portergos installer is forked from Architect and Pacbang.

  • @fernandomaroto
I was talking to Kowshik, but I have nothing against you commenting, too. 😉

I only meant: what program did @Kowshik use for creating the installer (stick).

  • I used rufus in windows 10

  • @Kowshik
Did you use DD mode in Rufus? Some people say it is required…

  • No. Also what have i to select in cnchi rank mirror option

  • @Kowshik
By the way, I installed today Antergos with Xfce without any problems.

But now, trying to install Antergos with Gnome: it does not install, files do not come out from the mirrors, and there is nothing that helps currently… 😞

@developers Why is Gnome install failing currently?

  • Maybe they have already started the Christmas holidays… 😉

But honestly, I assume they are already aware of this problem and working hard to solve it. 🙂

EDIT: yeah, again Xfce installed without problems, but Gnome doesn’t.

  • @manuel
when i installedd antergos using rufus i just needed to agree with a message asking to download something for the bootloader, some syslinux config file if im not mistaken.

    Hi, some progress… 😉
I installed Antergos with Xfce first, it went smoothly. Then, after reboot, I installed packages gnome and gnome-extra and Gnome is now installed and working! 🙂

  • I have tried xfce4 but no luck. Then tried base only option it worked. But i dont know how to get plasma from there on, i. e what are the things i have to install. Any guidance please
