• screen freezing

    Hi,

I’m getting screen freezes on the reg now for a couple days after installing antergos:

    $ uname -a
    Linux boxname 4.14.4-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Dec 5 19:10:06 UTC 2017 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    after a freeze I run:
    journalctl --since “15 minutes ago”
and am seeing the following couple of errors which look to be related:

Dec 12 13:28:14 boxname kernel: ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0000000000000B00-0x00000000000
Dec 12 13:28:14 boxname kernel: ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you sho

    Dec 12 13:28:23 boxname lightdm[478]: g_object_unref: assertion ‘G_IS_OBJECT (object)’ failed
    Dec 12 13:30:40 boxname kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo: LB_ERROR

I was thinking it has to do with the vid drivers so checked:

    [[email protected] ~]$ lspci -v |grep -i nvidia
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GK107 [GeForce GT 640] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

    [[email protected] ~]$ lspci -v |grep -i nouveau
    Kernel driver in use: nouveau
    Kernel modules: nouveau

i’m wondering if the nvidia card is running into issues with the nouveau drivers…

    Thoughts?

  • It is more than likely the nouveau/Nvidia Drivers - you can try appending nouveau.noaccel=1 in the grub boot line or install the correct nvidia driver for you card.
    good luck
