• Webcam uvcvideo driver problem

    Hi guys,

I am trying to use my webcam (Microsoft HD3000). According to ArchWiki should likely work out of the box but it does not.
Guvcview shows a blank black window.
After connecting the cam via USB, running:

    dmesg|tail

    gives

[51035.185258] uvcvideo 2-2:1.0: Entity type for entity Camera 1 was not initialized!
    [51035.187138] input: Microsoft® LifeCam HD-3000: Mi as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb2/2-2/2-2:1.0/input/input26

“DDGing” this message could not help.

    Thank you

  • $ sudo pacman -Ss v4l-utils

If you wish you can install v4l-utils and see if it works with your camera

    sudo pacman -S v4l-utils

    v4l2-ctl --list-devices

    Microsoft® LifeCam HD-3000: Mi (usb-0000:00:14.0-2):
    	/dev/video1

    Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_HD: In (usb-0000:00:1d.0-1.6):
    	/dev/video0

Forget laptop integrated camera because the laptop is docked and I need to use the webcam when docked.

  • Fixed after installing new drivers and rebooting. Thank you guys!
