• When are the Arch developers going to upgrade the kernel to 4.14?

    @joekamprad
    Fortunately there is pamac-updater or pacman -Syu. ;)

  • @manuel yes but does not change the kernel for the ISO-Bootup

    Yup, it might help recognize some new hardware better during installation.
    Is it possible/feasible to update the new ISO with this new kernel?

  • -Syyu just grabbed 4.14. Working fine with NVidia.

  • The famous kernel appeared linux-4.14.3-1 !!!

  • ¡Sí! Este es un buen kernel!

    The Zen and Hardened variants are also available now.

  • @joekamprad “If you build it, they will come… and test.”

  • @joekamprad
    I meant is it too much to ask for developers to release a new ISO with kernel 4.14?
    I didn’t mean specifically to add your burden even though I can see you work very hard! :)

    Anyway, for me this situation is OK, I’m not planning to install this ISO to a new hardware, at least for now. ;)

  • I just downloaded the new iso and want to check if the virtualbox bug is fixed (more related with cnchi i believe, but i’ll be sure when i test it)

    The ISO could contain code that adds VirtualBox guest additions if it detects VirtualBox.
    For example, using bash:

    if [ "$(inxi -Gc0 | grep "VirtualBox Graphics Adapter")" != "" ] ; then
        pacman -S --needed virtualbox-guest-utils virtualbox-guest-dkms dkms linux-headers
    fi

    i agree, i added something similar in my iso to uninstall virtualbox-host or virtualbox-guest depending if is real or virtual machine.

    In my case (to uninstall the package):

    sudo dmidecode |grep 'Product Name: VirtualBox'; if [[ $? == 0 ]]; then sudo pacman -Rnsdd virtualbox-host-dkms --noconfirm; else sudo pacman -Rnsdd virtualbox-guest-dkms --noconfirm; fi

    EDIT: VBox bug is fixed!. Congratulations @developers !

    The Android label isn’t removed when I unplug my Android phone in Linux 4.14.
    It will create more Android labels if I plug-in and unplug my android phone many times.
    It only happens to linux 4.14 and 4.15rc, there is no such problem in 4.13, 4.12 and 4.9lts.

    Can someone report it to the Linux developers?
