• Pacman/mirror issue

    Hey Guys!

I’m trying to install wine (currently version 2.21-1 in the multilib repository), and I’m getting a 404 error from pacman on all of my mirrors.

This is what happens when I try to use Octopi or just pacman -S wine from the command line:

Does anyone know what’s going on here? Anyone care to try and install it themselves?

  • Wow that we weird… For some reason it’s now working… I guess solved?

  • That is weird. I wonder if maybe you had an Internet hiccup?

  • The HTTP 404, 404 Not Found and 404 (pronounced “four oh four”) error message is a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) standard response code, in computer network communications, to indicate that the client was able to communicate with a given server, but the server could not find what was requested.

So a 404 on installing packages say that may some updates syncing or database updates happens, and after a while it comes back and running…

To avoid problems with mirrors, it is best to always use a reflector, if you do not have it installed:

    sudo pacman -S reflector

This will make your mirror work faster and more efficiently.

    # reflector --latest 200 --protocol http --protocol https --sort rate --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist
