• GNOME Shell crashes when updating packages

    It happened to me before so I did a fresh install yet the problem persists. It mostly happens when running pacman updates in a terminal. Dmesg tells me:

    gnome-shell[10337] general protection ip:7f71547299e2 sp:7fffa94ed880 error:0 in libgobject-2.0.so.0.5400.0[7f71546f1000+54000]

    Anyone with the same problem? Any way to fix this? Which information would be required from me?

  • This crash results in a complete freeze of the desktop for 5-10s, then the shell crashes, reloads and everything is fine again.

    Here is the output from:

    lspci > log.txt && lsusb >> log.txt && dmesg >> log.txt && cat log.txt | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

  • Looks strange to me that pacman update should be related to gnome shell crashes.

    You can try to see what makes the shell crash by

    journalctl - f > shellcrashlog

    while doing the update inside a second
    terminal, and take a look to the log file shellcrashlog then.
