May i am wrong, but i was expecting the opposite…

Well no and the difference is double in favor of the default Intel, it is too much in this case, maybe change in other hardware.

and now to compare run it on intel too :)

    python2 /usr/bin/gputest_gui.py

I tried running both with Unigine Heaven (I happened to have it installed on both Antergos and Windows).

Running on Windows gave me around 85 fps. Running on Antergos on just the Intel gave me around 8fps and using DRI_PRIME=1 gave me around 35fps.

All my results were obtained with the kernel current linux 4.13.12-1 and not kernel-LTS.

Which kernel have you tried with ?

On the other hand, if you get more performance with AMD than with Intel you can migrate your graphic to AMD (there to do several things, such as, I think I change files and so on …), you can look here

  • It seems that linux kernel 4.15 (to be released in next January) will be a big update for AMD graphics! So there is hope for AMDGPU people… :)

I’m running the LTS kernel. Do you think it would make a difference?

Very interesting ! (it was time …)

  • This is a nice tinkering around thread!🎣

Thanks to you who got it and posed it !!!

  • @judd @manuel @joekamprad I just tried doing a fresh install and decided to switch to KDE from Gnome and to take the non-LTS kernel. I then downloaded the AMD and Intel drivers and not I can’t boot into Antergos. I now get to a black screen and it says:

platform MSFT0101:00: failed to claim resource 1: [mem 0xfed10000 -0xfed40ffff]
acpi MSFT0101:00: platform device creation failed: -16 starting version 235
mmc0: Unknown controller version (3). You may experience problems /dev/nvme0n1p8: clean, 281138/1187840 files, 1925863/4750607 blocks

Do you happen to have any ideas on what to do? Sorry if this is off topic I just thought that it’s still related to what we’re trying to fix.

  • @mattrbrousseau
I suggest making a new thread since this is already a big thread for anybody to read through …
