• Deepin ISO Refresh - Coming Soon (as in, before another month goes by)

I know. It’s getting close to that time of the month when I put out another Antergos-Deepin release:grinning:. However, that deadline has sadly not been reached. However, I can assure you all that I will continue to deliver Deepin releases on a regular basis:slight_smile:.

So Here’s Some Details And Explanations For Everyone

My next build will be full of changes, improvements, and new things for you all, the users !!! However, all of these changes take time, and time is one thing that not all of us have infinite amounts of. These changes are huge. I would even go so far as to say that they will completely transform the Deepin experience:grinning:. As such, I must make sure that everything is in order and working perfectly for everyone. To do so, I just need a bit more time. But trust me, the wait will be worth it! And no, I’m not going to tell you yet - the time will come soon enough. Mwahahaha…

But seriously. This next release will be jam packed with improvements and changes for everyone.

    Until then,
    Enjoy!

P.S. If you have been overcome with curiosity, then I will tell you this. The next release will feature (among other things) lightdm-deepin-greeter already set up and ready to go after installation, new wallpapers, brand new applications to install, a feature packed Repository made just for Deepin, and more!

Keep trying, never give up. In the end, you will find that it was all worth it

  • I recommend leaving the look and feel as it is. Other distros, with competent graphic designers, tried to modify it and that lead to a worse looking desktop.

Also it’s nice that it has a small number of applications by default, or that only has the applications that most people would use.

  • Well, those themes actually look nice!

I completely agree:grinning:. The actual look and feel will remain the same, and not many more applications will be installed by default. If you are now wondering what these changes I spoke of could be then, well, wait just a few weeks:grinning:. You’ll find out soon enough!

  • Hi, Keegan!

    Sorry to be asking…
Because I am very excited for this release, I’d like to know when be released?
How long will it take? It will be a great release for sure.

Thank you very much in advance, for the info and forgive me, please.

  • Hi there!

    Sorry to be asking…

Don’t worry about it:grinning:. The whole reason I’m on the Forum is to help people out anyways!

First, thank you very much for the compliment! I greatly appreciate it:grinning:.

As for when it will be released, I had hoped to do so today as it is Thanksgiving here in the U.S. and it just seemed fitting to release it on a special day like that. However, I have run into a few post-install issues and so it may be a week or so. But it shouldn’'t be too long now !!!

Sorry for taking so long, there are just ALOT of things to do before I can release it to the public. As soon as it is available though, I shall post it here!

Have a great day (and hopefully this answered your question - if not, feel free to ask me more!)
    -Keegan

  • Thank you, for your information, Keegan. I greatly appreciate it!!

Here we will be waiting for your great work.

I am European, but as far as I know, and i hope i am not mistaken, in the United States, Thanksgiving Day is usually a day when people use your free time to be with family, making large meetings and family dinners and the main dish is usually the Turkey. It is also celebrated with great parades and with the realisation of the football games.

Having said this, I wish you with all sincerity, that you spend a very happy day with your family.

    Compliments;

Thank you:grinning:. I have been having a lovely day. In a few hours, my family and I will be visiting some friends to have our Thanksgiving meal. I wish you the best day possible also:slight_smile:.

    Enjoy!

Thank you very much @Palanthis:grinning:. May you have a great day too! (I’m not sure if you’re in the U.S. also or not, so I don’t know if I should wish you a happy Thanksgiving also or not. Either way, may you have a fabulous day today:slight_smile:.

Ah… Virginia’s a great state. I personally live in western New York, but traveled to Virginia last summer. How is it there? Today got pretty chilly over here (I think it may have gotten below freezing actually:smile:).

    Have a great day!

  • @Keegan I really like NY State (Manhattan, not so much lol). Virginia was beautiful today. Low 50s. Now dipping down to 35 degrees.

Same here:smile:. Manhattan is a nightmare to travel through!

Oooo… that sounds lovely:grinning:. Just out of curiosity, are the leaves still on in your area? I know they have all fallen off here (happened about a two weeks ago) but if it’s so warm over where you are, perhaps they are still on?

I know, I know. That last question about the leaves was pretty random:smile:. It just occurred to me because I know me and my family almost missed the fall colors when we went for our annual drive down through the Alleganys!

Thanks again, and have a great night!

  • I guess I just hijacked my own thread:smile:. (or at least got it seriously off-topic). My apologies everyone, it’s just that @Palanthis is the first user I have encountered on this forum who lives in the same country as I, the U.S. Everyone here seems to be from Europe… although I would assume that’s because Linux is more widely used over there.

  • @Keegan Welll, I have two trees in the front yard. One of them is bare now, the other will hold on for another few weeks. Makes cleanup a LOT of fun. (not!)

I’ve noticed that, too with the Linux dominance across the pond.

I wonder why that is though… does anyone know why Linux came to be more widely used in Europe than other parts of the world?

    Thanks!
