• ffmpeg update causes issue with playback on kodi

After updating ffmpeg videos on kodi freezes on playblack with no audio

i just try to rebuild against the new ffmpeg to see if this works…

  • Not helping here seems to need a upstream investigation to get it work again…

  • downgrading ffmeg works:

    sudo pacman -S downgrade
    downgrade ffmpeg
  • downgrading it works thank you 😃

  • It seems that ffmeg causes issues with Gnome Vídeos (aka Totem) too, as it can’t play any video stream (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)

If I make a downgrade, it automatically updates when an update appears or I have to do some special steps?

    Thanks in advance!

  • At the end of the “downgrade” process, you get a prompt “add <packagename> to IgnorePkg? [y/n]”. Answer yes, and the package is locked, i.e. not anymore updated.

  • I have install Antergos today. How to downgrade so i can play videos in kodi?

  • yes problem with ffmpeg and kodi persists

  • @andreasdimo79

Install a package from the AUR called downgrade:

    yaourt -S --noconfirm downgrade

    The run:

    sudo downgrade ffmpeg
  • The Kodi 17.5 update seems to have fixed the ffmpeg thing forever thanks for all your help guys

  • thanks for the information!
