• Unable to update: all keys are unknown trust

    Hi,

I have just started my old PC after several months without using and updating it. As it happens, I am unable to update the system. The reason for that initially seemed to be that the “Antergos Builder” key was of unknown trust.

I have tried to re-install all the keys by following the steps explained in this thread. Although all steps go without any problem, updating the system remains impossible.

I have even tried to get a fresh start by erasing the gnupg file

    rm -rf /etc/pacman.d/gnupg
    pacman-key --init

but the result is the same: all keys are of unknown trust and updating remains impossible.

Any suggestion? Thanks in advance for your help! :)

  • the threaed is from 2015 … okay …

Try to install the keyrings manual solved such problems mostly:

    sudo pacman -U https://repo.antergos.info/antergos/x86_64/antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
    sudo pacman -U http://mirror.wdc1.us.leaseweb.net/archlinux/core/os/x86_64/archlinux-keyring-20170823-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
    sudo pacman-key --init
    sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux antergos
    sudo pacman -Syyu

  • Hey @joekamprad, thanks very much for your suggestion. Unfortunately, after entering the first line I get:

    [***@***]$ sudo pacman -U https://repo.antergos.info/antergos/x86_64/antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
[sudo] Mot de passe de *** :

erreur : '/var/cache/pacman/pkg/antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz': paquet invalide ou corrompu (signature PGP)

The package appears to be corrupted, or something else prevents a successful installation

  • usually pacman -U should work here …

ah then download first will give you the option to install without checking signatures…

    wget https://repo.antergos.info/antergos/x86_64/antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
    wget http://mirror.wdc1.us.leaseweb.net/archlinux/core/os/x86_64/archlinux-keyring-20170823-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
    sudo pacman -U antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
    sudo pacman -U archlinux-keyring-20170823-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
    sudo pacman-key --init
    sudo pacman-key --populate archlinux antergos
    sudo pacman -Syyu

  • Downloading manually the package did the trick!
Thank you very much for your kind help :)

  • @joekamprad said in Unable to update: all keys are unknown trust:

    MAYBE OFFTOPIC
As far as i could notice pacman -U may give these errors when a package is repackaged with the same name, then some error could appear…
    ways to fix:

    • clean the cache (which i don’t like)
    • use --force option (which is not recommended)
    • or manually copy paste the files after extracting the any.pkg.tar.xz (which is pretty boring and waste of time)

After all the steps you suggested, if he still can’t fix i’d recommend --force, is faster and only for 2 keyring packages…

  • @fernandomaroto problem here was directly use the url path to install then pacman recognize package as “non local” and check signature…

    oops i didn’t notice sudo pacman -U https://repo.antergos.info/antergos/x86_64/antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
i thought it was sudo pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/antergos-keyring-20170524-1-any.pkg.tar.xz
pacman -Sw and then pacman -U is easier to me than finding the repo path (i’m too lazy)…
