• lightdm and xorg problem

at first, after booting my system a black screen freezes and no login screen appear.

when i tried to login using [ctrl+alt+fx] and try to run xstart it freezes too without showing any error.

now i can login with gdm after disabling lightdm, but still not able to startx or gnome on xOrg nor xfce, and my system is slower than before.

Edit : after updating xorg and gnome i got some errors running startx

  • Ok. You’re on Optimus.

Briefly: try to remove nouveau video driver.

Read about how to do it in Antergos WIki here.

You may wish to install nvidia video driver. If your BIOS doesn’t control discrete video card (Nvidia), then:

    • either
      sudo pacman -Syu nvidia-installer
      nvidia-installer --help
      nvidia-installer --test --bumblebee
...thoroughly study the output, and then:
      nvidia-installer --bumblebee

    • or
      follow the article

If your BIOS controls the discrete video card (Nvidia), then Bumblebee for NVIDIA Optimus is the only way to follow. It explains, how to manipulate BIOS to successfully install and run Nvidia driver on Optimus laptops.

Display managers and Xorg aren’t responsible for startup problems. The topic’s title is somewhat misleading.

  • @just
    thank you for your response,

I followed your instructions, but, it doesn’t solve the problem.

  • It’s a pity.
