• What happened to wine?

    I have deleted the .wine folder and run winecfg again.

    [[email protected] ~]$ LANG=EN winecfg

  • @joekamprad Still doesn’t work

  • Next, remove the old cache:

    $ rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
    $ rm -f ~/.local/share/mime/packages/x-wine*
    $ rm -f ~/.local/share/mime/application/x-wine-extension*

    And, update the cache:

    $ update-desktop-database ~/.local/share/applications
    $ update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime/

    and re-create the .wine folder!

  • @joekamprad It fails, too. Do I have to create the folder by myself? or just run winecfg?

  • yes the rm command sshould fail if you already remove them… and afaik you do nor need to create the .wine folder manually, but may there are some stuff leftover from wine, and have the empty folder (.wine) can prevent from not starting the GUI…

  • @joekamprad I mean the winecfg still fails to start.

    is the problem, but i can see there is a bug at the moment:

  • @joekamprad

    wine cmd.exe /c echo '%ProgramFiles%' returned unexpanded string '%ProgramFiles%' ... this can be caused by a corrupt wineprefix, by an old wine, or by not owning /home/user/.wine

    [[email protected] ~]$ ls -a -l|grep .wine
    drwxr-xr-x    4 user users      4096  9月 25 17:00 .wine

  • @joekamprad So the Arch dev team distroyed wine?

  • why should they do so?
    I do not know what happen, as i dislike wine at all, i prefere to do not use win-apps under Linux, if i have to i start windows…

    • playonlinux = takes forever to install internal choosen IE6 and failed on that.

  • s9209122222 did you latest update freetype fonts?because many people have problem after latest updates and wine stop working-crashing.
    https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43715

    there is a patch for wine to fix this if it is freetype fault

    https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=59266

  • So downgrade to freetype 2.8 will be the easiest solution :-) If this do not brake anything else…
