  • I have tested it now live and ready to install (i have used Deepin over a year on Manjaro before i came to Antergos Gnome). There’s one question tho. Can I use Deepin locking screen istead of LightDM?

Interesting:grinning:. I have never actually heard of this package! Does anyone know what it is called and how to configure it?

    Thanks!

In AUR is sddm-theme-deepin-git but I think LightDM is better and more beautiful.

I would agree there:grinning:. However, how does one get sddm-theme-deepin-git set up? I always seem to have problems with the git applications…

  • @Velkerk I have allways hated LightDM. And there’s another point too. There nice option in Deepin settings add users and using LightDM makes it quite useless… ;)

  • @Keegan I have no experience with sddm deepin but doesn’t
sudo systemctl disable lightdm && sudo systemctl enable sddm
    work?

  • @bpoerwo Have to try that. It worked with gdm at least.

Problems with git? I don `t believe

Just take a look at my 268 post thread about how to get the Deepin ISO setup with Github:smile:. That had about 20 some steps to it! (found here).

I believe it does. However, how does one use a git application from pamac? Does it still need to be configured, or is it all set to go?

    Thank you!

  • @Keegan I would go more there more like Manjaro did. Branding just splash screen and keep oroginal login screen. As I said, LightDM will broke some of user settings.

  • Not in my experience, I was always able to use it after install.

I try my best to keep as close as I can to the original Deepin, but this is Antergos also:grinning:. Antergos uses Numix theming and LightDM by default. Thus, I should do the same. I know awhile back I changed the Numix theming to the usual Deepin ones for my ISO, only to be told by a dev that to be Antergos, it must actually follow a few guidelines. I mean, think about the irony of installing Antergos with Cnchi displaying that “I love Numix” slide in the background, while Numix is no where present on the ISO:smile:. Thus, I feel I should keep it the way it is. If, however, someone could throw together a step by step method of getting the sddm-deepin locker set up, I would be more than happy to put it under my “Tricks of the Trade” section on my Antergos Deepin webpage.

    Thanks!

  • I understand that, but you should not brake settings expecially for new users. They are in side panel and should work as they suppose to be working. It’s more Gnome thing to drop setting there and there. The look is one thing, but usability is another, more important one.

  • That is true… which settings does it brake though?

  • @Keegan I’m installig it right now, so I get back to you for a moment when I test them thro. :)

  • For me, all of the Power Management settings still work correctly… If they do not for you, I would be happy to apply a few changes I know of to get it working for sure:slight_smile:.

And thank you for the input! Please. Be as difficult as you can:smile:. I would rather know of issues and concerns so I can address them now, rather than find out about them later.
