• Grub rescue after install

After installing Antergos on my drive, I am met with a grub rescue screen upon boot. When trying to reinstall grub through a Live usb + chroot, I get the following error:
grub-install: warning: this GPT partition label contains no BIOS Boot Partition; embedding won't be possible.
grub-install: warning: Embedding is not possible. GRUB can only be installed in this setup by using blocklists. However, blocklists are UNRELIABLE and their use is discouraged..
grub-install: error: will not proceed with blocklists.

The following is the output of fdisk -l for my Linux drive

Device Start End Sectors Size Type
    /dev/sdb1 2048 1428709375 1428707328 681.3G Microsoft basic data
    /dev/sdb2 1428709376 1429685937 976562 476.9M EFI System
    /dev/sdb3 1429685938 1468607812 38921875 18.6G Linux filesystem
    /dev/sdb4 1468607813 1937900780 469292968 223.8G Linux filesystem
    /dev/sdb5 1937900781 1953525134 15624354 7.5G Linux filesystem

I have successfully done a dual boot with Antergos + Windows in the past, but I have uninstalled both of those so I could reinstall fresh, but I have no idea how to fix this.

  • I was able to get it fixed myself, I simply did a booted with UEFI instead then installed like that.

  • @mrtheboyboy27 Please mark this thread as solved, thank you.
