    How to remove pamac ?
Since a few weeks I have the impression that it halts my computer for several seconds after boot into the KDE desktop. AFAIR I never had that experience with any Arch distribution in the last years.
Pamac often locks pacman and pamac itself. Then I have to remove the lock file manually.
The menus of pamac are terribly bad. I had problems in the past.
Today I have tried 3 times to update the browser Brave without success. Pamac seems to lock itself without indication of any progress or lack of progress.

The way to uninstall pamac as described in uninstalling-the-default-pamac-manager does not work because it would uninstall my entire Linux installation.

Please, remove pamac as system requirement for antergos.

  • Running
    sudo pacman -R pamac
in a terminal should do the trick.

I m not sure. There s the antergos-kde-setuppackage that has to be removed first. All plasma default apps in Antergos KDE are dependent on it, that s why …

  • sudo pacman -Rdd pamac

  • Thank you all for your replies :-)

    I have executed:
    pacman -Rdd pamac
I hope that nothing is broken now.

Maybe I will try pamac again when version Pamac 5.0.0.3 is available.

  • Would this be considered “Solved” then?

Keep trying, never give up. In the end, you will find that it was all worth it

  • @Keegan
Yes, I think this is solved.
    I have executed:
    pacman -Rdd pamac-tray-appindicator
as well because IMO the last pacman -Suy installed
    pamac 5.1.0-1
    again.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi,

You can remove antergos-kde-setup without any problems/issues. If you do not remove it, as it depends on pamac, pacman will try to reinstall it again and again.

    I hope this clarifies it.

    Cheers!

  • @karasu
Hi, I have removed it like this:
    pacman -Rdd antergos-kde-setup

    Thank you :-)
