• All of a sudden: Massive PulseAudio problems

Restarted my new laptop today. Yesterday, everything worked, today I am having massive problems with PulseAudio, when I try to run pavucontrol, I get only a message: Establishing connection to PulseAudio. Please wait…
I have sound, I just can’t run anything pulse related like pavucontrol or pulseequalizer.
    Any ideas?

  • do you already try removing/moving (mv) pulse config folder under ~/.config of your users home?

may also the ~/.config/pavucontrol.ini if exists…

  • Yes, just did that, no change.

  • Can someone please explain to me why my problem was flagged as spam ?

Normally that means that pulseaudio daemon is not running (or blocked/crashed).

Does a ps -ax show it?

Did you change anything in /etc/pulse files?

Can someone please explain to me why my problem was flagged as spam ?

I’m sure it was somebody’s unintentional mistake. I don’t see it flagged now.

  • should look like this:

╰─➤ ps -ax | grep pulseaudio
     1118 ? S<sl 2:08 /usr/bin/pulseaudio --daemonize=no

  • ps -ax | grep pulseaudio
    1982 pts/1 S+ 0:00 grep pulseaudio

  • looks like not running at all …

  • I reinstalled. Things seem to work now in regards of sound.

  • And then build the module for   again? or without?

  • @joekamprad
Haven’t built the soundcard module yet, as I have a working equalizer now and the subwoofer works too.
