• Installing MSOffice 2007 or MSOffice 2010 Successfully on Antergos

    1. First install all the packages for Wine
    #sudo pacman -S wine winetricks wine_gecko wine-mono lib32-ncurses

    1. Then install ttf-ms-fonts for microsoft fonts support
    #sudo pacman -S ttf-ms-fonts

    OR

    #yaourt -S ttf-ms-fonts --noconfirm

    1. After that, Set up Wine Architecture and Wine Prefix as win32
    #WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 winecfg

    1. Then, install msxml3 for msoffice2007 and msxml3&msxml6 for msoffice 2010

    (for msoffice 2007 )

    #WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 winetricks msxml3

    (for msoffice2010)

    #WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 winetricks msxml6

    1. Now, install samba package for winbind package as the lib32-libwbclient(winbind) package is discontinued in arch linux
    #sudo pacman -S samba

    1. Now, install the msoffice by running setup.exe file through wine.
    #WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 wine /path/to/msoffice/folder/setup.exe

    Example:

    #WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 wine /home/anyone/msoffice2010/MS\ Office\ 2010/MS\ Office\ 2010/setup.exe

Now, MSOffice is installed on your arch linux system.

  • @jyotib652 , hi. I think that the Antergos wiki is a better place to post it. What do you say?
    Cheers

Yes wiki is the place for HowTo.

  • These are great instructions! It would be nice to have them available on the Wiki though also…

I’m pretty sure you will have to post it again on the Wiki. However, this shouldn’t be too bad since you could just copy and paste it:grinning:.

  • Hi. I tried these instructions but in the last step the Office installer exits with an unnamed error. Any suggestions? I am on a normal Antergos, not LTS, on a laptop.

  • Which Version of MSOffice are you installing on your Antergos pc ? Have you installed msxml3 or msxml6? I did not test this procedure on any other version of MSOffice except, 2007 and 2010.

  • @jyotib652 Hi. I try to install Microsoft Office 2010 Professional Plus. I install msxml6 by doing WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 winetricks msxml6 as per the instaructions above. I use Furious ISO mount to mount the iso file to a folder in my home directory. Then I run from this directory WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 wine setup.exe. The installer runs until about 50% and then aborts with an error message without error number.

    Thanks for your help!

  • You should install both of the msxml3 and msxml6 for MSOffice 2010 as it is already mentioned in the tutorial at the point no. 3.

    #WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 winetricks msxml3

    &

    #WINEPREFIX=~/wine32 winetricks msxml6

  • Anyone tried Visio ?

    I make things work…
    My humble wiki: https://anotherlinux.com/

  • @jyotib652 That was the problem! Thank you so much for your help!

  • If that didn’t solve your problem then I can’t help you in this regard. And since currently I’m not using Antergos I can’t test it right now. But previously when i had tested both of the MsOffice 2007 and 2010 installed smoothly.

  • @izznogooood I think visio viewer is included in the MSOffice Software package.
