• how to fix: Green border around issue on imege and font rendering?

    Hi friends can I solve this problem?!
    The same problem is also in the gimp font edges

    alt text

  • I have this problem in the GIMP. Apparently it’s a bug with the antialiasing that has been around a long time.

    If I turn antialiasing off green disappears but fonts become very jaggedy looking.

    My work-around to remove the green from white text is: Colors > Desaturate > Luminosity > ok

    If you are getting green in a color other than white:

    First create your text in solid white.

    Colors > Desaturate > Luminosity > ok

    Colors > Colorfy (not Colorize) > customize color to your liking > ok
    Do not use colorize because it will add back the green.

    If these items are already rendered and are white like in your screenshot, try putting them through Desaturate as explained:

    Warning: work on a copy in case things go awry.

    Colors > Desaturate > Luminosity > ok

    Hope this helps you out.

    Edit: I found this while searching (I have not tried it myself. Always backup your file before changing it):

  • Hi @blinky thank you for the answer.
    I came across this problem in the same way when working with inkscape.
    I’ve used debian-based distributions before. None of these problems existed.
    I did some research. Arch-based distributions have become a chronic problem.
    I’ll try the steps in the link.

  • @unc Edit: I went ahead and did the fix ( https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=159246 ) and it worked for me in the GIMP.

    No more green!

    I made a side by side screenshot with the fix and using my Desaturate work-around and they look close enought that I don’t see any difference, except no more green. Hooray!

    Hope it works for you OP and thanks to you I’m fixed up too. 🙂

  • There is a work around solution fixing this in GIMP. I found it here http://smashingweb.info/solved-green-border-around-gimp-text/ . Just add a font config file into the /etc folder with

    gedit /etc/gimp/2.0/fonts.conf

    the content given below.

     <match target="font">
      <edit name="rgba" mode="assign">
  • @ranjithsiji , @blinky Thank you friends.

    This method only works well Gimp.
    The same problem exists in inkscape, I hope I can find a way. I keep on researching.
