• Microphone support?

It kind of embarrassing that by default a simple microphone doesn’t work for some weird reason and pavucontrol or alsamixer doesn’t detect it as a device in the front or in the back panel with a studio or a casual microphone.

Is there any magical package which need to installed on a MSI Gaming Z270 M7 motherboard to get the microphone working?

I saw posts about muted devices and restarting and adding modules but nothing seems to working also some of it broke the whole alsamixer. (it saying after switching sound device that invalid argument)

Logs will be added on this evening 😊

  • give us: lspci | grep Audio

  • @joekamprad sorry for the late response!

[[email protected] ~]$ lspci | grep Audio
00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH HD Audio
01:00.1 Audio device: NVIDIA Corporation GP104 High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1)

Here the 01:00.1 is passedtrough to a VM so I missing something to the 00:1f.3
The sound output is working but it doesn’t recognize any input on the motherboard or on the front panel.

  • @adaliszk said in Microphone support?:

After I installed the alsa-firmware and alsa-tools I cannot open alsamixer:

    [[email protected] ~]$ alsamixer
ALSA lib simple_none.c:1550:(simple_add1) helem (MIXER,'Master Playback Switch',0,1,0) appears twice or more
cannot load mixer controls: Invalid argument
  • there is something real unclear for me…

lspci shows: Intel Corporation 200 Series PCH HD Audio

    dmesg shows: snd_hda_codec_realtek ALC1220
    and also: snd_hda_intel {00:1f.3} i915_audio_component_bind_ops

The error alsamixer shows you say: (MIXER,‘Master Playback Switch’,0,1,0) appears twice or more
dmesg | grep -i audio do not show any error …

can you provide a full journal log

    journalctl -b -1 > journal && | curl -F [email protected] https://ptpb.pw/?u=1

will giveout a url with pastebin…
