“Characters app … makes it easier to find and use special characters, including emojis”

Problem is: not all “emojis” are displayed at Antergos gnome instal (no problems with other distros).

Maybe someone could point out a set of fonts compatible with most emoji display…

  • It’s gnome, just use the default font which you are not supposed to change anyway according to the gnome developers.

Could you define “other distros” and provide some comparative screenshots?

Assuming that “emojis” means Emoticons category, I can’t find significant differencies between platforms. Only Fedora 26 - the main Gnome 3 supporter - has all emoticons, though misses icons in Pictures category.

A brief look at some Gnomes, currently running on this computer.

‘Characters’ is not strictly an emoji picker’. It does 'offer ‘an easy way to find and use a variety of characters’

Thank you very much for your time just. Arch, Fedora and Debian based distros may provide the same output. ‘other distros’ was maybe an incorrect generalization. Latest I used the app was Ubuntu Gnome. I-m writing from the 16-04 install media.
To find what they did, that the others didn’t 🙂🙄, I don’t mind install to HD, and do some packages search, in case you have any idea about what to look for.

  • @4ant Probably this is what you’re looking for - emoji in Arch and Antergos.

    Antergos, Arch

Only one more try, please just
what is your output at the end of the screen to follow…

  • @4ant I dislike Gnome 3 almost as much as legendary @Jeannie____ , and normally can’t use it for more than 10 minutes a day. You make me spend half an hour with it daily. It’s beyond my limits of Gnome 3 support.

I have 8 screens in Pictures category with Noto Color Emoji font in Arch and Antergos.

Thank you very much. Solved!!! 🙂

(sorry about asking for the pictures, I had an issue to instal “noto…”, yesterday)

Pictures aren’t a problem. The real problem is Gnome 3.

Just kidding. I’m playing with it and various display managers (plus Wayland on proprietary Nvidia) now, getting curious results. But it’s a scandalous off-topic, so let’s stop here.

  • ahahha (off-topic) …great one Just 😉
    again, thanks for your help!
