• Wifi dead [Qualcomm Atheros AR9485]

Hello, my wifi connection stopped working after an update. I tried switching back to LTS - no better. The laptop does not catch any network anymore after working perfectly for years. Here is my lspci output:

    lspci

03:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)

sudo systemctl stop avahi-daemon does not improve anything and all this seems to be installed:
    which ifconfig
    which iwlist
    which iwconfig
    which dhclient
    which wpa_supplicant - nothing missing.

I can write this because I am connected via a cable for now.
Any clue what I could try, please? Thx very much for your help, much appreciated.

    Qualcomm Atheros AR9485

    rfkill list all
    ip a
    lsmod |grep acpi

    will give some info…

    lsmod | grep acpi

    missing space | grep

    So device is not blocked.
but i see two different device names …

    and wlp3s0 = state DOWN
would it be to much to ask for more logs?

  • @longliveantergos uh i think your installation is corrupted in a away?

The output of the command i give should give you a url with the output pasted, but i see only an curl error …
you should try to reinstall this:

    sudo pacman -Scc
    sudo pacman -S ca-certificates ca-certificates-cacert ca-certificates-utils ca-certificates-mozilla

  • @joekamprad Ok, thx, now that this is corrected, here is the output:

  • strange…

    ls /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0

    gives you a not find?

  • @joekamprad Exactly. But I found this file in usr/share/skype/lib

  • Then try to reinstall openssl-1.0 and openssl

  • @joekamprad You mean uninstall them, then reinstall them (they are both installed)? When I try that I get an error: pacman needs to be uninstalled but it is locked.

  • Only installing to rewrite their files…
    Use pcman:

    sudo pacman -S openssl openssl-1.0

[updates once a week] = [90% less problems]

    i3-wm#gnome-shell

  • @joekamprad said in Wifi dead:

    sudo pacman -S openssl openssl-1.0

ok. how do i send you a screenshot, found something interesting.

  • @longliveantergos ok, now ls /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0 gives ls /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0
    /usr/lib/libssl.so.1.0.0

  • Reboot and see if this fixing your issue
