• [Solved] How to install arronax? Please guide.

    Hello members, I am the newest member of the Antergos community. I have basic familiarity with ubuntu, .deb packages, creating application links, installing tar balls from given instructions, installing dependancies etc. I am new to arch & I want to install arronax.
    AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/arronax/
    Developer page: https://www.florian-diesch.de/software/arronax/

    I have tried to install the package but the process failed. The detailed log is attached. Please guide me. Thank you & appreciation for your support.

  • Hi,

    If it’s in the AUR, did you try using yaourt?

    yaourt -S arronax

    Hello Karasu, thanks for your response. I have tried your suggestion & at the end of installation it shows package conflicts.

    Tried with yaourt -S --force arronax command. but the end result is same.

  • Hi,

    I’ve just tested here and it works, so there must be something wrong with your installation.

    You should hardly ever use --force, as it bypasses file owning checks. It has to be used with a lot of care.

    Now you have several files that are owned by several packages. To sum it up, a mess.

    If you want to fix this, you must delete those conflicting packages and choose just one of them.

    error: file owned by 'bro' and 'brotli': 'usr/bin/bro'
    error: file owned by 'leptonica' and 'python-retdec-python': 'usr/bin/fileinfo'
    error: file owned by 'frida' and 'python2-frida': 'usr/bin/frida-discover'
    error: file owned by 'python2-bcrypt' and 'python2-error: file owned by 'ruby-base32' and 'ssrf-proxy': 'usr/lib/ruby/gems/2.3.0/gems/base32-0.3.2/.gitignore'

    For instance, you have packages gitrob and yawast that are owning the same files.

    Well, you’ll have to choose one and delete the other one.

    Where did you get those packages? I can’t even find them in the repos.

    Welcome to the community!

    If you cannot get arronax to work for you, there is a package that I have installed called menulibre. It can do the same thing as arronax, and in my opinion even more, because with it, you can also edit the properties of existing launchers.

    Hope this helps!

  • I am very curious & wanted to know how things work, so I tried to install blackarch on top of Antergos. Got those packages from the BA repo. This is the installation method I followed. https://blackarch.org/downloads.html#install-repo

    Googled the file conflict related issues & even checked the arch forums, the only solution is to remove either packages. I have messed things up already & it seems that the BA repo is causing the issue. I want to get rid of BA. The following page has instructions on how to remove BA packages
    http://edunham.net/2015/04/08/removing_blackarch.html

    This is uninstallation error log: https://paste.ubuntu.com/25002587/

    Please suggest how should I remove the black arch packages only or should I go for a fresh installation of Antergos?
    Thanks for your constant support & suggestions.

  • Are there any ways to reset my Antergos installation to its default state?

  • @biplabro the guide you are following is maybe outdated… (April 08, 2015)

    pacman had some changes, i have to change some used skripts also to get them working…

    But you can also use pamac-manager and then click sources, click blackarch and uninstall everything what belongs to this source.

    Then removng the entry from pacman.conf by removing this lines (as root/sudo)

    $ sudo nano pacman.conf

    [blackarch]
    Server = http://mirror.team-cymru.org/blackarch/$repo/os/$arch
    then clean the system up:

    $ sudo pacman -Scc
    $ sudo pacman -Syu

    And welcome to Antergos community!

    Thank you very much. Successfully removed the BA repo & packages without having to reinstall the distro… Arronax is installed successfully. Also installed menulibre. Such a wonderful community. It would be very interesting to learn & share.

    First time using Arch since a couple of days. It has the most “to the point” & simplistic approach. This is how a true open source community-based distro should be. Thank you. O:)

    One question:
    After the removal of blackarch, some system components including plasma-workspace, PulseAudio & afew other important tools got uninstalled together. I have to install plasma from tty terminal to get back my desktop. Are there any way to install all the required packages that came bundled with Antergos?
