Maybe make it required to post at a “hello everyone” treat first?
That sounds like a great idea, even if there weren’t fake accounts being made.
This decision is not to be taken lightly because it’s gonna hurt new user account creation without any doubt. Many user will not create new account if we force them to create an hello everyone thread. I’m pretty sure most user’s create there account because they need help in the first place. In my case I created an account because I’ve found a thread I wanted to participate in. Maybe I would not have create an account if I had to create an hello everyone first. The first step to have a great and deep community is to make account creation simple and accessible.
But, I think the idea to try to bring all new users to create hello everyone post is very great one! I think first step should be to create a new category named something like “New user corner”, “Hello world zone”, “Say hello Antergos”. Second step could be a welcome message talking about creating a presentation message in the “New user corner”.
Now, if you take the decision to do something like that, you have to be willing to be very dedicated to answer new user presentation post. Because if you’re not you will end up with a bunch of “Hello world” post with nobody answering to them and that’s not sending a good message to your new users.
If you’re willing to answer new users post and you don’t make it mandatory, I think this is a great idea. Otherwise, I think you should pass.
