• Qemu can't start

im triying to run qemu but this happens

i tried a lot of thing without success

    virsh -c qemu:///system
error: failed to connect to the hypervisor
error: Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/libvirt-sock': No such file or directory

  • Helo @Azur

    Is libvirtd running?
    sudo systemctl start libvirtd
    sudo systemctl enable libvirtd
    reboot

    Theodore

  • i did that before several times, and i did it again to make it sure, but nothing, is still happening

  • @Azur said in Qemu can't start:

    virsh -c qemu:///system

does the command ask for root password before the error?
    what say:

    systemctl status libvirtd

and how do you install it? (what)

    pacman -Qs qemu

    i use virt-manager

    i installed the virt-manager too

  • Are you running a VM?

    I make things work…
    My humble wiki: https://anotherlinux.com/

  • Explain?

  • If you are running antergos (or any OS) in a VM and want to run another VM (inside the vm) you need a software that supports nesting. SO: if you are running antergos in say: virtualbox and want to start qemu, you cant… VMware supports nesting.

  • @izznogooood

No lol, i don’t want to run a VM inside of another VM, i just want to fix qemu so i can use the virt-manager normally

  • qemu-arch-extra installed?

I am not 100% shure but authentication needs to be handled, as i am using Gnome i will ask for authentication on starting virt-manager or virsh automatic, but may youi need to configure this for xfce4 by hand?
And to run it libvirtd systemd service has to be active.
May you can see more from journalctl -f when you try starting the service.
    also a

    journalctl | grep libvirtd > libvirt.log && cat libvirt.log | curl -F c=@- https://ptpb.pw/

    should give a hint.

  • @joekamprad said in Qemu can't start:

    journalctl -f

Doesnt give anything related to qemu or libvirt

    how?

    Yes i guess

    $groups
    wheel users wireshark libvirt

  • why you are in the libvirt group this is not nessesary as far as i know… as members of the wheel group will granted to properly rights.

  • I fixed it, finally i just deleted it with configs and everyting then i installed it again, but now i have a little problem

when i select the drive to install the virtual machine it says

“The emulator cant have search permissions for /run/media/azur/newvol/virtual/test.qcow2”

a quick workaround for this is just running virt-manager has sudo and then selecting the virtual drive but not creating the machine

There is a fix for this?
and another thing is, there is a way to increase the GPU memory in the virtual machine and not using just 16MB?
