• Unreal Engine aur installation and manual build

    Hi,
I’m running antergos on my laptop (with kde desktop)
and try to install Unreal Engine by aur first
(after tmpfs space problem) the compilation ends with an UBT error :

ERROR: UBT ERROR: Failed to produce item: ~/.tmp/yaourt/yaourt-tmp/aur-unreal-engine/src/UnrealEngine/Engine/Binaries/Linux/CrashReportClient
Total build time: 85,28 seconds (Local executor: 0,00 seconds)
    make: *** [Makefile:252: CrashReportClient-Linux-Shipping] Error 5
==> ERREUR : Une erreur s’est produite dans build().
        Abandon...

    build with clang 4.0.0 (I tried 35 and 38)
Do I have made a mistake ? or something forgotten ?

Is someone had tried to install Unreal with success ?

thanks to any help and thank you for reading this.

  • Have a look at this thread. https://forum.antergos.com/topic/2866/yaourt-no-space-left-on-device

Try to change the build directory as suggested.

  • Sorry, maybe I misspoke,
Actually, I already change the yaourt installation place (that’s why this is in directory : ~/.tmp/yaourt/yaourt-tmp/… above)
but the error appear after download, when it build :
    I have an UBT error.

  • I just resolve my problem,
    It’s completely weird :
it’s because the generated files (*.generated.h) were not generated
when I inspect the logs I see that :
    /home/nihil//yaourt/yaourt-tmp-nihil/aur-unreal-engine/src/UnrealEngine/Engine/Intermediate/Build/Linux/B4D820EA/CrashReportClient/Inc/CoreUObject/CoreUObject.generated.dep.h
Actually I compile Unreal in /home/nihil/.tmp but the .tmp doesn’t appear and it’s why the files were not generated :)
so do not compile in hidden folder ;)

  • Could you put this information on the Wiki perhaps? I’m sure there are other people who would benefit from this as well:slight_smile:.

Plus, that way you will always have somewhere to go to if you yourself run into this problem again:wink:

    Thanks!

Keep trying, never give up. In the end, you will find that it was all worth it

  • @nihil how long does it takes to build?

[updates once a week] = [90% less problems]

  • It took me approximately 3 hours.
