• Update Information

I have a bunch of updates available and I am curious to know what is being changed/added/fixed.

Where can I go to find more information for every update that I get?

For example I have updates called “cinnamon-desktop” “cinnamon-screensaver” “cinnamon-settings-daemon”. Not very clear as to what that is or what is being changed. (clear as in, yes clearly its related to the cinnamon desktop environment, but what exactly)

  • @noobertroon thats a good question. you might need to go to the web site of the software to see what the upgrade details are. im not sure if the package manager comes with that info.

so for cinnamon just head over to linuxmint.com and see what the update is about.

  • Hi,

You can always search info about a package (but it won’t tell you which are the updates, only what the package is for):

    pacman -Si cinnamon-desktop

  • Thanks, that is useful.

It provides a link to the github page where I can probably find the information I want.

  • I have Discover installed. It puts a widget in my system tray that shows the number of updates. If I click on it, it opens Discover which lists the updates. I get out of Discover and use pacman to apply updates since discover is not included in the Antergos distro. I like the widget, and Discover looks great. It’s a very beautifully designed modern application.
