• \[SOLVED\]Packages fail to install with PacmanXG 4.14.22 beta

Hey all, here is a slight issue i am being faced with. After i upgraded the PacmanXG to 4.14.22 beta, i cant install packages using pacmanXG GUI. It comes up with a warning : errors occured, with no packages were upgraded. oh and i realized too that the standard “A” logo disappeared after upgraded. Do i need to downgrade or try something else?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Try reinstalling it. The icon issue will be corrected soon but everything else should be working.

sudo pacman -Rc pacmanxg4 ssx --noconfirm
    sudo pacman -Syyu
    sudo pacman -S pacmanxg4

    Cheers!

  • Hi again.

I haven’t been successful. Here is a typical reply from pacmanXG trying to install (QGIS as an example)

    Total Download Size: 23.33 MiB
    Total Installed Size: 127.07 MiB

    : : Proceed with installation? [Y/n] y
error: no servers configured for repository: core
error: no servers configured for repository: extra
error: no servers configured for repository: community
error: failed to commit transaction (no servers configured for repository)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

    ------> Restart building qgis ? [y/N]

This is the last outcome of the installation command executed using the pacmanXG after building and installing package, install or building missing dependencies for qgis:
resolving dependencies and looking for inter-conflicts.

  • Hi,

What’s the output from running “pacman -Syyu” in the terminal?

    Best Regards,
    Dustin

  • Hi,

error: no servers configured for repository: core
error: no servers configured for repository: extra
error: no servers configured for repository: community
error: failed to commit transaction (no servers configured for repository)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

I would guess there’s something wrong with the /etc/pacman.conf or the /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist files.

  • Hi,

Remove everything in /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist and then insert this:

    \#\#
    \#\# Antergos repository mirrorlist
    \#\#

    \# Autodetect your closest mirror
    Server = http://mirrors.antergos.com/$repo/$arch

Now run pacman -Syyu again. Let me know the result.

    Cheers!

  • Dustin and all,

One silly question. There are about three other files. Do i have to delete them and just have one and copy over the server list you provided?? And do i still have to uncomment and comment the auto detect and servers given here ??

    Thanks

  • No need to alter it…simply copy/paste it directly…as for the other files you can remove everything except for mirrorlist and antergos-mirrorlist

    Cheers!

  • Just getting the hang of this amazingly easy way of installing via PacmanXG!
    Great work guys!

  • Hi again,

My mirror list is blank. should it be blank or have the same severs list as the Antergos mirror ??

    Thanks

  • /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist should not be blank. It is different than /etc/pacman.d/antergos-mirrorlist. Use this command to fix it:

sudo pacman -Rdd pacman-mirrorlist --nosave --noconfirm && sudo pacman -S pacman-mirrorlist --noconfirm

    Cheers!

  • I was hoping your system had a cached version of the mirrorlist package but it appears that it does not. Extract the attached archive and put the file in /etc/pacman.d/. Then run pacman -Syyu again. That should fix it for you. You may want to install reflector afterwards and run the following command to sort your mirrorlist by connection speed.

    sudo reflector -l 30 -f 15 --save /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

    Cheers!

  • Hi Dustin,

The mirror list now is working. However, i accidentally deleted the pacmanXG GUI. Here is what i did trying to install it but no success. Please point me out in the right direction. (Sorry to be a pain)
